- screenshot via katu video(below) -
The WA state car dealer that put up a sign saying Kenyan Obama is not his president says he's putting it back up.

Mara Zebest reports: Goes to prove the Rush Limbaugh statement: Q: How do you offend a Liberal? A: Tell them the truth.... Q: How do you offend a Conservative? A: Tell them a lie....

Called the Austin's Affordable Auto (phone number is on the sign in the video) to give them Kudos for the sign... and mentioned that my only disappointment with the media report was to hear the dealership took the sign down and it figures we can leave it to the media to locate the ONLY 2 or 3 people who found the sign offensive. The lady who answered the phone confirmed that they've been getting overwhelming support and they plan to put the sign back up (the media reported the sign had been taken down). She went on to say, "The facts are the facts"... Glad to hear they plan to double-down... and I agree... even Michelle Obama stated Kenya is Obama's home country. Obama also states he's from Kenya while campaigning there for his cousin Odinga. Posted a few other facts below...

VIDEO: Car dealer goes birther; that Kenyan is not my president http://www.birtherreport.com/2013/11/car-dealer-goes-birther-that-kenyan-is.html

It was ok for the media to mention Obama is from Kenya... before it was not ok. Flashback to headline when Obama ran for Senate...

A transcript of an official meeting in Kenyan after Obama's election. The highlighted paragraph states:

Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the President-elect, Mr. Obama, is a son of the soil of this country. Every other country in this continent is celebrating the Obama win...

And of course.... from Obama's own bio (the author -- in this case Barack Obama -- writes his own bio and sends it to the publisher):

Shannyn Moore showed up on MSNBC this morning and explained WHY it is important for progressives to stay engaged with Alaska politics despite the odds being stacked against us.

Shannyn did great this morning, and reminded the nation that we were once the bluest of states before the oil money and Evangelicals dragged our politics to the dark side.

Open Carry advocates attempt to intimidate "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America," with, you guessed it, guns.

Open Carry advocates attempt to intimidate "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America," with, you guessed it, guns.
Courtesy of Think Progress:

On Saturday, nearly 40 armed men, women, and children waited outside a Dallas, Texas area restaurant to protest a membership meeting for the state chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, a gun safety advocacy group formed in the aftermath of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

According to a spokeswoman for Moms Demand Action (MDA), the moms were inside the Blue Mesa Grill when members of Open Carry Texas (OCT) — an open carry advocacy group — “pull[ed] up in the parking lot and start[ed] getting guns out of their trunks.” The group then waited in the parking lot for the four MDA members to come out. The spokeswoman said that the restaurant manager did not want to call 911, for fear of “inciting a riot” and waited for the gun advocates to leave. The group moved to a nearby Hooters after approximately two hours.

MDA later released a statement calling OCT “gun bullies” who “disagree[d] with our goal of changing America’s gun laws and policies to protect our children and families.” The statement added that the members and restaurant customers were “terrified by what appeared to be an armed ambush.” A member of OCT responded by tweeting, “I guess I’m a #gunbullies #Comeandtakeit.”

So to be clear, this group of pro-gun nuts decided to state their case that Americans should be allowed to carry any gun they want to openly, and they did so by demonstrating EXACTLY why many of us feel that is dangerous and unwise to allow that without having comprehensive background checks and guidelines.

These individuals are pathetic excuses for men and should serve as an embarrassment to every responsible gun owner in the country.

This kind of thing literally makes me seethe with anger.

The Today Show's Mat Lauer is flying to Alaska to interview Sarah Palin about her newest "book of lies."

The Today Show's Mat Lauer is flying to Alaska to interview Sarah Palin about her newest "book of lies."
The picture that Page Six used to illustrate their story. Really captures Palin's essence, don't you think?
Courtesy of Page Six:

Matt Lauer is going to Alaska for Christmas.

The “Today” show host will spread some Yuletide cheer with Sarah Palin and her brood riding snowmobiles, ice-fishing and making moose stew.

An NBC source said the arrangements were made as Matt prepared to interview the former vice presidential candidate live on Monday about her new book, “Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.”

Lauer will visit the Palins in Wasilla in early December for a segment that will air the week of December 16.

I would usually add some holiday snark to this post, but I have to go bleach my eyes out in an attempt to rid it of that image.

Darrell Issa accused of leaking misinformation about Healthcare.gov in attempt to undermine the Affordable Care Act.

Darrell Issa accused of leaking misinformation about Healthcare.gov in attempt to undermine the Affordable Care Act.
Courtesy of Think Progress:

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are accusing Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) of selectively leaking misinformation about HealthCare.gov in an effort to portray administration officials as misleading the public about the implementation of Obamacare.

On Thursday, Issa appeared on Fox News and claimed that he had obtained documents proving that contractors working on Healthcare.gov believed that the site could only handle 1,100 users before launch. U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney had publicly stated that the administration believed that the site could handle 60,000 concurrent users.

But in a letter to Issa, Rep. Ellijah Cummings (D-MD), the ranking member on the Committee, pointed to an interview Issa’s own staff conducted with Henry Chao, the Deputy Information Officer. Chao explained that the 1,000 figure were “the results of a much smaller testing environment” and were not conducted “with final production testing of the system at full capacity.”

“The estimates for the full [Obamacare] website environment were considerably higher,” Cummings writes, adding, “[I]t is reckless and highly irresponsible to make unsubstantiated public allegations by taking information out of context, especially when the Committee has information in its possession that directly contradicts these unfounded allegations.”

This, of course, is nothing new coming from Issa who is well known to have virtually NOT one ethical bone in his body. He approaches his job as House Oversight Committee Chairman as if he is a"fixer" for the Mafia and is tasked with making GOP problems go away while exaggerating the problems with his political enemies.

Issa is a street hood who has been dressed up to appear less thuggish in public, but at his core he is still the punk kid who was indicted twice for stealing cars.

Not a surprise that he is one of the more prominent members of the House Republicans.

Lady Gaga's latest frock has her airborne
Gaga Tests Flying Dress

Gaga took to the stage in New York to unveil a 'flying dress.' Dubbed the Volantis transport prototype the dress catapulted Gaga off the ground.
Lady Gaga prepares to fly with the Volantis, a flying dress, at the 'artRave' release event of her new album 'ARTPOP' in New York.
NEW YORK - On the eve of her fourth studio album's release, pop diva Lady Gaga lived up to her reputation for doing things on a grand scale on Sunday as she donned what she called the world's first flying dress.
Gaga, known as much for her off-the-wall performances and outrageous costumes as for her music, was strapped into a contraption mounted on a flat disk and fronted by a molded body suit. It hoisted her aloft before a horde of media and industry types.
The dress, which she dubbed "VOLANTIS," may only have risen a few feet off the ground and propelled her perhaps 20 feet before alighting. But no matter, Gaga was, well, gaga, letting out a joyous screech after her "flight" in a warehouse at the decidedly unglamorous Brooklyn Navy Yard.
Calling VOLANTIS "an amazing ambassador for creativity, Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, said that while her latest sartorial statement "is a vehicle, she essentially is a metaphor for me." She explained that Gaga was serving as a voice for "the youth of the world," especially those "who don't think they'll ever penetrate the corporate world."
The pop star has made world youth, especially the disenfranchised, a personal cause. Among other initiatives, she has set up a foundation and lobbied extensively against bullying.
In a message to young fans around the world, she said: "Harness your creativity, harness your invention, and know that you are valuable."
The event was one of many over several days that Gaga has staged in conjunction with the U.S. launch of ARTPOP, which will be released on Monday after a delay owing to a hip injury.

International space crew returns Olympic torch to Earth

International space crew returns Olympic torch to Earth
International Space Station crew member Fyodor Yurchikhin of Russia holds the Olympic torch after landing near Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan, on Monday, Nov. 11.

An International Space Station crew of three landed back on Earth on Monday having taken the Olympic torch on a four-day journey.
NEAR ZHEZKAZGAN, Kazakhstan - A Russian spacecraft brought three astronauts and the Olympic torch back to Earth on Monday after the torch was taken on its first spacewalk in the run-up to the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi.
Russia's Fyodor Yurchikhin beamed as he held up the silver-and-grey torch alongside American Karen Nyberg and Italian Luca Parmitano on the Kazakh steppe after returning from the International Space Station after a 166-day mission.
Slowed by parachutes and braking rockets fired to soften the impact, their Soyuz TMA-09M capsule landed on schedule at 8:49 a.m. (0249 GMT) after a three-and-half-hour descent.
"The Olympic torch is home after a four-day journey," a NASA TV announcer said after the flawless descent through a cloudless sky and a "bulls-eye touchdown" in the tall tawny brush of central Kazakhstan, near the remote town of Zhezkazgan.
President Vladimir Putin, who has been in power since 2000, has staked his reputation on a successful Olympics. His image abroad has been damaged by what critics say is a clampdown on dissent, and a law banning homosexual "propaganda" among minors.
The torch was unlit throughout the space voyage, for safety reasons. That also precluded the possibility that the flame could fail - a problem that has occurred dozens of times, including an incident captured live on national television in which the torch went out in the Kremlin minutes after Putin presided over the start of the relay.
Cosmonauts Oleg Kotov and Sergei Ryazansky took it with them on a spacewalk on Saturday, posing outside the orbiting station with the first Olympic torch taken into the vacuum of space.
After their return to Earth, Yurchikhin, Nyberg and Parmitano were pulled through the hatch of the cramped capsule, carried to chairs and covered with thick blankets against the minus 4 Centigrade (25 Fahrenheit) cold outside.
The torch was then handed to a Sochi 2014 official and flown by helicopter - separately from the three space travelers - to the provincial capital Karaganda.
RECORD-BREAKING RELAY
The torch taken on the spacewalk will be used to light the flame at the Olympics in February in Sochi, a Russian resort city on the Black Sea. The torch was taken into space in 1996 and 2000 but had not previously been outside the space station.

Satellite likely incinerated as it returned to Earth

Satellite likely incinerated as it returned to Earth
An artist's drawing depicts the European Space Agency satellite.

Officials say a large satellite that mapped Earth's gravity likely incinerated after re-entering the atmosphere Sunday, though some debris may have survived.
ORLANDO, Fla. — A large science satellite that mapped Earth's gravity likely incinerated after re-entering the atmosphere on Sunday, about three weeks after running out of fuel and beginning to lose altitude, officials said.
Ground tracking stations' last contact with Europe's Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) was at 5:42 p.m. as it passed 75 miles above Antarctica, Heiner Klinkrad, head of the European Space Agency's space debris office, wrote in a status report posted on the European Space Agency's website.
The official designation of space is the Karman line, 62 miles above Earth.
About 25 percent of the car-sized satellite was expected to have survived re-entry, with debris most likely falling into the ocean, European Space Agency officials said.

Sarah Palin starts her new book tour with an interview reminiscent of the 2008 interviews with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson.

2:08 AM By No comments

Sarah Palin starts her new book tour with an interview reminiscent of the 2008 interviews with Katie Couric and Charles Gibson.
Courtesy of USA Today:

Sarah Palin, 49, is the original hero of the Tea Party, rallier of the right wing and basher of Barack Obama. But it has been five years since she gained a place in the history books as John McCain's surprise choice of running mate on the Republican presidential ticket. Four years since she unexpectedly resigned as Alaska governor before her term was up. Two years since she bypassed the chance to jump into the 2012 GOP presidential primaries.

In her first interview about her new book, Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas, she bristles a bit when asked whether she has been supplanted by a new generation of Tea Party favorites making today's headlines. Some of them are tying Congress in knots, and others are running for their second terms as governor.

"I know that we get requests every single day for a shout-out, an endorsement, just give a little bit of your time to learning about this issue or what's going on in our part of the country," she tells USA TODAY. "That's every single day, and I appreciate that." She says she wants to spot rising political talent to support and to continue speaking out. In her third book, timed for the holiday season (not a phrase she embraces, by the way), she scalds the "angry atheists with lawyers" and the "political-correct police" she says want to take Christ out of Christmas.

Palin has only praise for Texas Sen. Cruz and Utah Sen. Mike Lee, who helped engineer the anti-Obamacare campaign that led to the controversial partial shutdown of the federal government last month. "It wasn't a shutdown; it was a little bit of a slim-down," she says, and one an "overgrown" government could use. She outlines prominent roles ahead for them and her, albeit hers apparently doesn't involve a bid for Alaska's Senate seat next year or perhaps any elective office again.

If this is how all of Palin's interviews are going to go, she is in for quite a lot of mocking and shaming.

The first question sets the tone:

Susan Page: "You have a new book out, "Good Tidings and Great Joy, Protecting the Heart of Christmas." Does the heart of Christmas need protecting"

Palin: "Uhhh, I think it does Susan. I think that..uh..there are some in our culture today who would want to censor some of our..um..ability, our desire, our right to celebrate Christmas traditionally? And..um..kind of translates into something greater and that is censoring our right to exercise our faith, as we deem fit. So yeah, protecting the heart of Christmas will lead to protecting the heart of our nation, and protecting faith in general."

Susan Page: "So this means things like allowing religious carols in public schools or having merchants say 'Merry Christmas' instead of 'Happy Holidays.'"

Palin: "Sure, here's what our community chooses to do, here is what we would desire to do when it comes to celebrating Christmas in our city, or in our local school district, or a local shopkeeper, for instance, not being made to feel intimidated if they want to put a big 'Merry Christmas' sign. And here is what you do, you show up at a town council meeting. You..um..you write a letter to the editor. You..um..you make your voice heard instead of just capitulating and sitting back and saying 'Oh yeah, I guess there is this erosion of our right to exercise our faith. So be it.' Heck no, don't give up! Don't make..don't let anybody tell you to sit down and shut up, and not celebrate Christmas the way you want to."

Palin's tunnel vision on this issue is quite unbelievable and she demonstrates a complete lack of compassion for anybody of a differing faith.

I am actually an Atheist who has never had any trouble wishing people a "Merry Christmas" because I love the holiday and have never viewed it as a Christian one, due to its pagan roots and modern interpretation. (Who doesn't love Santa Claus?) However now with Sarah Palin pissing on my Christmas Yule Log perhaps I will start to say "Happy Holiday" just to make sure I am not characterized as being on the side of the small minded intolerant people who would agree with her position.

The rest of the interview is just as crazy. When Susan Page asks Palin about Ken Cucinelli, and refers to him as a "Tea Party candidate" this was Palin's response:

"He was the GOP supported candidate, not just the Tea party one. Ken Cuccinell unfortunately allowed the media to create a kind of narrative that..um..would falsely reflect some anti-woman policy that perhaps, some people wanted..um..the electorate to believe about him."

To be clear the media "created a kind of narrative" by reporting on the laws that he helped to pass and statements that he had made in public. Those bastards!

I have to say that this transcript I have provided really only gives you the general idea of how loony she comes off. If you want to get the entire experience who will have to click the link at the top, but I warn you, wilted, brain cell killing word salad is NOT part of your healthy breakfast.

(While I was typing this Palin appeared on the Today Show, and was even MORE unhinged than she was in this interview. I will post that one later today.)

The first rule of Catholic priest child sex abuse, is that we don't talk about Catholic priest child sex abuse.

The first rule of Catholic priest child sex abuse, is that we don't talk about Catholic priest child sex abuse.
Courtesy of Opposing Views:

A Roman Catholic priest has come forward and said his attempts to speak about sexual abuse in the church led to his firing from Congregation of the Holy Cross in Montreal, Canada.

The priest, Rev. Andre Samson, first spoke about the church’s unfortunate history two years ago after Congregation of the Holy Cross issued an apology and paid $18 million to victims of sexual abuse.

Samson, a former military chaplain, was interrupted by his colleagues at lunch one day when he began telling them the story of an 18-year-old who had confessed to him that he was psychologically tormented after being abused by a Catholic priest when he was younger.

“The community superior became enraged,” Samson said. “He said, ‘Don’t talk about this here. It can’t be. We don’t talk about this here.’ ”

Later that day, Samson says the community superior forbid him from eating lunch in the dining hall. About one month ago, he went to a different superior and asked for help in overturning his expulsion from the dining hall. The superior declined to help him.

Last week, Samson was fired. He says the officially listed reasons for his firing were all minor – like failing to wear his collar correctly. Samson maintains that the real reason for his firing is his shunned discussion about sexual abuse in the church.

“I find this difficult because as priests we give our lives to the church,” he said. “And it’s sad how we can be betrayed by this church.”

Samson took his story to the press in order to raise public awareness about the silencing he received in the church.

It is certainly no secret that I don't have much affection for most religions, but Catholicism holds a very particular place on my shit list for not outing pedophile priests, for covering up their crimes, and for moving them around the world which allowed them to continue to prey on children, sometimes for decades.

They chose to protect their religion, and their fortune, over protecting the lives of the innocents who came to them in faith and trust.

What they allowed to happen should signal the end of their existence, and yet they continue to convert impressionable people from around world.

The new Pope may serve to convince some that the church has changed, but cosmetics only give the appearance of change, and do nothing to deal with the rot that lies within.
