So in that recent interview with Erin Burnett Ted Nugent did a little law enforcement names dropping in bolster his claim that the term "subhuman mongrel" did necessarily HAVE to have racist overtones.

Here is what he said to excuse his word choice:

"I've been a cop in Lake County, Michigan, since 1982 thereabout. I conduct federal raids with the DEA and ATF and U.S. Marshals and the FBI and Texas Rangers and heroes of law enforcement.

"And we are re-arresting fugitive felons let out of their cages after murdering and raping and molesting children, carjacking. And we keep going after these guys.

"The adrenaline is something like you will never experience, I hope you never have to experience it, but when we are done with these kinds of raids, we get together and our hearts are broken that we have to face these monsters. We call them mongrels. We call bad people who are destroying our neighborhoods mongrels."

I know what your thinking. Can Ted Nugent even spell DEA and FBI, much less join them in a raid?

Interestingly enough the folks over at Politifact wondered the same. So they did a little checking: '

Lake County, Mich., is located about 90 miles north of Grand Rapids. It has about 11,500 residents and describes itself as "an outdoor recreation paradise."

Nugent is a reservist for the county sheriff's office, Sheriff Robert Hilts told us. But, "He’s never joined us for any raids. Fortunately, we don’t have those sorts of problems up here."

Hilts said Nugent has no authority or official responsibilities. The only activity involving Nugent that Hilts could recall was raising money on behalf of the department and for a local boy who has cystic fibrosis.

"We’re always searching the woods for a hunter that’s lost or hurt," Hilts said. "He helped us buy a four-wheel drive offroad vehicle so we could reach people faster."

They "don't even have those sorts of problems" you say? Well that's one, but surely he was not lying about all of them, right?

Nugent does not seem to be a cop in the way most people would understand that word. The picture was about the same for the federal agencies Nugent named.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) told us, "We are not aware of him conducting any raids with us."

We asked the Texas Department of Public Safety on what occasions Nugent had joined Texas Rangers on raids. Press secretary Tom Vinger said, "In regards to your question about the Texas Rangers, that did not occur."

Joe Moses, a 22-year veteran special agent at the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), told us they have no record or recollection of Nugent participating in any of their operations. However, when there are special projects that involve many federal, state and local agencies, they wouldn’t necessarily know the name of everyone who showed up.

At the same time, Moses said there are strict standards for who is involved in an actual raid.

"You would not have someone who didn’t hold the status of a police officer or federal agent participate in such an operation," Moses said. The process of arresting a person or collecting evidence must withstand challenge in a courtroom. It is not a place for the inexperienced, Moses told us.

So not only has Nugent NEVER been included on a raid, he is not even qualified to do so.

Ahh, but not all of the agencies listed went on the record to reveal that Nugent was full of shit.

The FBI said it could neither confirm nor deny Nugent’s participation in a raid.

Which of course is FBI speak for, "Ted Nugent go on a raid with us, what are you nuts?"

The only evidence that in any way supported Nugent's claims seems to be a ride along he did for his reality show with the US Marshals nine years ago. However he was not allowed inside the homes of suspects, and had to wait outside in the car or on the sidewalk.

In other words Mr. Draft dodging poopy pants made the whole thing up in order to distract from his racist remarks.

I don't know if that is the reality of their relationship, but I like to think that it is.

The Environmental Protection Agency announced Friday that it is beginning a process that could block a massive proposed gold mine in Alaska from being built.

The Pebble Mine is a proposed open-pit copper and gold mine that could be up to 2 miles long, a mile and a half wide, and 1,700 feet deep -- the largest of its type in North America. The proposed site for the mine is at the headwaters of the Nushagak and Kvichak rivers, which feed into the Bristol Bay. It is the largest sockeye salmon fishery in the world, producing nearly half of the world's wild sockeye.

The EPA said Friday that it is invoking Clean Water Act protections that would stop its construction, citing concerns about the threat it poses to the bay and the fish that depend on it. EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy said that the agency is taking the step to "ensure that the world's most productive salmon fishery is safe from the risks it faces from what could be one of the largest mines on Earth" in a call with reporters Friday afternoon.

McCarthy cited threats to the region's multimillion-dollar fishing industry, as well as to native cultures that rely on the bay. The agency released a scientific assessment of the bay and proposed mine in mid-January, which McCarthy said provided "ample reason for EPA to believe that a mine of the size and scope of Pebble Mine would have significant and irreversible impacts on Bristol Bay."

And that should be the end of that.

This has been going on for years and it seems that everybody, except a handful of politicians including Sarah Palin, have been speaking out against this since it first became known.

Alaska natives, fishermen, and environmentalists have been beating the drum, and finally it looks like the EPA is going to put their foot down and stop this potential environmental disaster BEFORE it can poison our water and kill our salmon.

I think Alaskans everywhere will be celebrating this decision.

So today the President was addressing the DNC when this heckler jumped up and said the following:

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Mr. Obama!

THE PRESIDENT: — I consider Republicans patriots who love this country just as much as we do.

AUDIENCE MEMBER: Tell us about your plans for nuclear war with Russia!

THE PRESIDENT: I’m sorry, who’s that back there? (Laughter.) What the heck are you talking about? (Applause.)

AUDIENCE: Obama! Obama! Obama!

THE PRESIDENT: No, no, don’t worry about it. We’re okay. Have a seat. I don’t know anything about that plan. (Laughter.) I don’t know what you’ve been reading. (Laughter.) Let me return to what I was talking about. (Applause.) See, he thought happy hour started earlier. (Laughter and applause.)

Okay now in my opinion the best part of his exchange is the face the President made at the 15 second mark.

"Holy crap I was right about something!"

Yes, I could see this one from Alaska. I'm usually not one to Told-Ya-So, but I did, despite my accurate prediction being derided as “an extremely far-fetched scenario” by the “high-brow” Foreign Policy magazine. Here’s what this “stupid” “insipid woman” predicted back in 2008: "After the Russian Army invaded the nation of Georgia, Senator Obama's reaction was one of indecision and moral equivalence, the kind of response that would only encourage Russia's Putin to invade Ukraine next."

Ooh, somebody's awfully proud of themselves now aren't they?

Of course the 2008 speech that Palin refers to is one in which she claimed that Obama's offer to engage with the leaders of Iran would embolden them to possibly attack Israel. Instead we now have a deal with Iran that essentially dismantles their nuclear weapons program.

She also stated that Obama was demonstrating a lack of respect for Pakistan's sovereignty by threatening to send troops in if there were credible information that Osama Bin Laden was hiding out there.

I think we all know how that turned out.

Yes Palin did also suggest that under President Obama that Russia might be emboldened to invade the Ukraine. However considering her shoddy record of making predictions, and the fact that the invasion is still relatively hypothetical, it does seem that it deserves a great deal of celebration.

After all even a broken clock is right twice a day.

By the way if Russia is indeed invading the Ukraine, it is possibly the laziest invasion on record.

Update: Now the Ukrainians are saying that they have repelled the invasion, and that the airports and roadways are back under Ukrainian control.

Okay so are we to believe that in just one day Russia invaded the Ukraine, and were repelled with no reported loss of life? That does not appear to be much of an invasion.

It seems to me that a certain half term Governor/Reality TV star may have shot her big stupid mouth a little too soon.

Bill Gothard, an Illinois-based advocate for home-schooling and conservative dress and who warned against rock music and debt, has been placed on administrative leave after allegations of sexually harassing women who worked at his ministry and failing to report child abuse cases.

Gothard’s Institute in Basic Life Principles was once a popular gathering spot for thousands of Christian families, including the Duggar family from TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting.” Gothard’s Advanced Training Institute conferences were also popular among devotees of the Quiverfull movement, who promote large families and eschew birth control.

He’s also rubbed shoulders with Republican luminaries. He and former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee were photographed at a campaign lunch together; former Georgia Gov. Sunny Perdue spoke at one of Gothard’s conferences; and Sarah Palin, when she was a small town mayor in Alaska, attended his International Association of Character Cities conferences and declared Wasilla among Gothard’s “Cities of Character.”

In a statement posted Thursday, board chairman Billy Boring told World magazine: “After completion of the review, the board will respond at an appropriate time, and in a biblical manner.” Until then, the statement said, Gothard “will not be involved in the operations of the ministry. The board of directors will be prayerfully appointing interim leadership.”

Gothard is 79 and single.

Wow, an associate of the Duggar family and Sarah Palin, and advocate for the Quiverfull movement, engaging in sexual harassment, who could have possibly imagined such a thing?

Hillary Clinton offered a defense of Obamacare — but struck a note of concern for small-business owners who’ve complained about mandates required by the law — in a twin set of speeches in Florida on Wednesday.

“I think we are on the right track in many respects but I would be the first to say if things aren’t working then we need people of good faith to come together and make evidence-based changes,” Clinton said at the first event, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society conference in Orlando, Fla., according to CNN.

Clinton highlighted the problems voiced by people owning a “small business of 50 or more” as well as those “moving people from full-time work to part-time work to try to avoid contributing to their health care,” CNN reported.

Those are the very voters who Democrats are concerned about appealing to in the midterm elections and to whom the most targeted messaging on the Affordable Care Act is taking place.

“Part of the challenge is to clear away all the smoke and try to figure out what is working and what isn’t,” Clinton said. “What do we need to do to try to fix this? Because it would be a great tragedy, in my opinion, to take away what has now been provided.”

“This is going to be challenging and I don’t think we should throw the baby out with the bath,” she added, according to CNN, saying the debate has been rife with “misinformation.”

Of course as all of us know Hillary was the driving force behind the idea of universal health care in the 90's.

Of course the Republicans took a giant dump all over that plan, but miraculously President Obama was able to pass a version, while not exactly a match for the Clinton plan, can be modified to become much more similar.

And let's face it Hillary really IS the natural choice to move the plan forward and help make the modifications that Obama cannot make now due to conservative obstructionism.

I'm not saying that there will not be attempts to trip Hillary up, I'm just saying that by 2016 the Republicans will have far fewer tools in their toolbox, and likely nothing for which Hillary is not prepared.

And this speech should not only comfort Americans about the survival of Obamacare, it should also embolden red state Democrats campaigning for reelection.

After all if Hillary is courageous enough to boldly state her support and hope for its future, that will provide cover for Democratic Senators and Congresspeople doing the same.

A computer tech for the Farmington school system was arrested for trying to have sex with a cow while another man shot video.

The cow was later hit by three cars that are now totaled. Two men are now in custody.

I have to confess that I have no good reason to share this story except for the opportunity to post that headline.

A man waits his entire life for such a chance, and I damn sure wasn't going to let mine just slip away.

How these newscasters kept a straight face is completely beyond me.

P.S. For those who simply cannot believe this is real.

Walt Disney World has ended its financial support of the Boy Scouts of America over its ban on openly-LGBTQ troop leaders and volunteers.

The company had previously supported the organization through an employee grant matching program; Walt Disney World would make donations to the charitable organizations where employees volunteered their time, including the Boy Scouts.

The Central Florida Council’s board president alerted troop parents of the change in a recent letter:

"We recognize that many Scout Units have received financial support over the last several years from this [Walt Disney matching] grant opportunity and are sad to see it go. The National BSA Council has reached out to WDW to try to resolve the situation, however, according to WDW, their views do not currently align with the BSA and they are choosing to discontinue this level of support. We will continue to keep an open line of communication with them, but at this time, are unable to reverse their decision."

As Josh Israel at ThinkProgress notes, the Walt Disney Company’s corporate standards prohibit “any form of harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identification, national origin, age, marital status, covered veteran status, disability, pregnancy or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.”

Wow! I cannot imagine that the Boy Scouts can continue to stand up against this kind of pressure from organizations as powerful as Walt Disney World.

And besides if the Scouts re going to allow LGBTQ kids into the program, shouldn't they also have role models there that the boys can relate to?

Makes sense to me, unless of course the BSA is still being guided by the belief that homosexuality and pedophilia are connected in some way. Which it is not.
