You may have missed this but, according to the Right Wing, Sarah Palin really "schooled," "slapped down," and "demolished," Matt Lauer on Monday.

You may have missed this but, according to the Right Wing, Sarah Palin really "schooled," "slapped down," and "demolished," Matt Lauer on Monday.
Sarah Palin uses her death stare to emasculate Matt Lauer, just like she did Todd.
Okay well I covered the interview on Monday, and I thought I did a fine job. However apparently I missed the part where Palin handed Lauer his ass.

I feel so ashamed.

Because according to Fox News she schooled Matt Lauer.

And according to Newsbusters she slapped him down,

And according to Rush Limbaugh she demolished Lauer.

Wow, how did I miss that!

Okay so here is the part that seems to have tickled the Right Wing taint.

Just in case you did not understand her response here is what she said spelled out for you:

"The plan is to allow those things that had been proposed over many years to reform a health-care system in America that certainly does need more help so that there's more competition, there's less tort reform threat, there's less trajectory of the cost increases, and those plans have been proposed over and over again. And what thwarts those plans? It's the far left. It's President Obama and his supporters who will not allow the Republicans to usher in free market, patient-centered, doctor-patient relationship links to reform health care."

Do you get it now?

No?

Thank God, I thought it was just me.

Holy moosecrap on a cracker that is ignorant blather. And what the hell is "less tort reform threat?"

There is literally NOTHING in that which could be described as an answer to Lauer's question. It is simply a bunch of words strung together to give the appearance of an answer. In fact I think it is right up there with her "I'll try to find you some and bring'um to ya" response to Katie Couric back in 2008.

However this is what passes for a liberal media ass kicking among the conservatives these days.

Gee no wonder she can sell them ghostwritten books about a made up war on the most popular holiday in the country.

Hawaii signs bill to make it the next state to legalize same sex marriage.

Hawaii signs bill to make it the next state to legalize same sex marriage.
Courtesy of HuffPo:

The Hawaii Senate passed a House-amended bill legalizing same-sex marriage on Tuesday.

Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie is expected to sign the bill into law quickly, perhaps as soon as Wednesday, which would allow Hawaii to beat out Illinois as the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage.

The Hawaii law allows same-sex couples to marry in the Aloha State beginning Dec. 2, just in time for destination wedding season.

I have to imagine that hotel owners and wedding planners in Hawaii are cartwheeling all over the place.

I mean comes on! A gay wedding in Hawaii? Who would not want to attend?

I'm straight but even I want to get gay married in Hawaii.

Here was President Obama's statement on this earlier:I want to congratulate the Hawaii State Legislature on passing legislation in support of marriage equality.

With today’s vote, Hawaii joins a growing number of states that recognize that our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters should be treated fairly and equally under the law. Whenever freedom and equality are affirmed, our country becomes stronger. By giving loving gay and lesbian couples the right to marry if they choose, Hawaii exemplifies the values we hold dear as a nation. I’ve always been proud to have been born in Hawaii, and today’s vote makes me even prouder. And Michelle and I extend our best wishes to all those in Hawaii whose families will now be now given the security and respect they deserve.

I have to say that this can ONLY serve to reinforce every fear that the religious conservatives had about Barack Obama becoming President of the United States.

Which is so awesome in my opinion.

Document Expert Files Response To Order To Show Cause In Obama Fraud Notice

Document Expert Doug Vogt Files Response To Order To Show Cause In Obama ID Fraud Notice...

Doug Vogt v. Barack Obama
Case No.: C13-1880 (JLR)

RESPONSE OF DOUGLAS VOGT TO ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE REGARDING SUBJECT MATTER JURISDICTION

Excerpt:

Accordingly, this Court is asking the wrong question in its Order to Show Cause. As detailed below, the question is not whether this Court has subject matter jurisdiction - it clearly does - but what duties does this Court now have based upon the evidence that Vogt has proffered to this Court. As such, the "Complaint" should not be dismissed but instead the Docket in this matter corrected to reflect that which was filed: Vogt's Notice of Commission.

III. VOGT Is DUE TO BE RECOGNIZED BY THIS COURT FOR HAVING DISCHARGED
HIS MISPRISION OBLIGATION

"Misprision . . . of a felony . . . is a criminal neglect, either to prevent it from being committed, or to bring to justice the offender after its commission .... "Joel Prentiss Bishop, A Treatise on Criminal Law, §717 (9th ed. 1923).3 Under English law, a conviction for misprision of felony required no affirmative act of concealment; a person could be guilty of the offense for a "mere failure or refusal to disclose" the existence of a felony. Carl Wilson Mullis III, Misprision of Felony: A Reappraisal, 23 Emory L.J. 1095, 1114 (1974).

There has been a federal statutory crime of misprision of felony since 1790. Now codified at 18 U.S.C. §4, it currently reads: "Whoever, having knowledge of the actual commission of a felony cognizable by a court of the United States, conceals and does not as soon as possible make known the same to some judge or other person in civil or military authority under the United States, shall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than three years, or both." (Emphasis added).

Likewise, 18 U.S.C. § 2382 - Misprision of Treason states: "Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States and having knowledge of the commission of any treason against them, conceals and does not, as soon as may be, disclose and make known the same ... to some judge of the United States ... is guilty of misprision of treason and shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned not more than seven years, or both."

These statutes codify the long-standing common law tradition to raise the "hue and cry". In Roberts v. United States, 445 U.S. 552, 558 (1980) the Supreme Court stated that "gross indifference to the duty to report known criminal behavior remains a badge of irresponsible citizenship." Notably, as detailed in Vogt's public affidavit, Vogt's attempted to "make known" the felonies identified in his Notice of Commission to "other persons in civil or military authority" - i.e., the U.S. Attorney- but had failed to elicit any response from the U.S. Attorney.

Thus, Vogt had no proof that he had discharged his misprision duty if subsequently prosecuted for failure to so report. Thus, Vogt "made known" to a judge of the United States the commission of felonies and treasons as he is obligated to do under pain of criminal sanction. Yet, where it the proof of his required action for indeed, only the Clerk was served with the pleadings which sought to discharge Vogt's misprision obligation.
As such, it is incumbent upon this Court to acknowledge that it has received that which Vogt has filed. Otherwise, the allegations may be lost to the electronic morass of the Clerk's PACER system and never be actually received- and reviewed - by this Court. Vogt deserves such a formal acknowledgment from this Court.4

IV. THIS COURT IS OBLIGATED TO REFER VOGT'S AFFIDAVITS TO THE GRAND
JURY

Jesus statue unscathed by Typhoon Haiyan

Jesus statue unscathed by Typhoon Haiyan
A giant statue of Jesus Christ on Calvary Hill in the coastal town of Tanauan in the Philippines.

(CNN) – A giant statue of Jesus apparently survived Typhoon Haiyan unscathed, even as the massive storm flattened many parts of Tanauan, a coastal town in the central Philippines.
It's not the first time religious statues have survived natural disasters in the heavily Catholic Philippines, according to local reports. Two statues of the Virgin Mary withstood a devastating earthquake last month.
Meanwhile, Haiyan has wiped entire towns off the map, and thousands are searching for family members, food and water.
So, what do you think, readers: Is the unscathed Jesus statue a miraculous sign of hope amid the ruins or just a random coincidence?

US to become world's top oil producer in 2015: IEA

US to become world's top oil producer in 2015: IEA
A gas flare is seen at an oil well site on July 26, 2013 outside Williston, North Dakota. Gas flares are created when excess flammable gases are released by pressure release valves during the drilling for oil and natural gas.

A boom in shale oil in the U.S. has reversed a decline in its oil output. The IEA predicted the U.S. would surpass Riyadh as top producer in 2017.
LONDON — The United States will stride past Saudi Arabia and Russia to become the world's top oil producer in 2015, the West's energy agency said, bringing Washington closer to energy self-sufficiency and reducing the need for OPEC supply.
But by 2020, the oilfields of Texas and North Dakota will be past their prime and the Middle East will regain its dominance - especially as a supplier to Asia, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said on Tuesday.
A boom in shale oil in the United States has reversed a decline in its oil output and the IEA, adviser to industrialized nations, predicted in its 2012 World Energy Outlook the U.S. would surpass Riyadh as top producer in 2017.
Introducing this year's outlook at a news conference in London on Tuesday, IEA Chief Economist Fatih Birol said the agency now expects the re-ordering earlier.
"We expect in 2015 the U.S. to be the largest oil producer in the world," he said.
"We see two chapters in the oil markets," he told Reuters in an interview. "Up to 2020, we expect the light, tight oil to increase - I would call it a surge. And due to the increase coming from Brazil, the need for Middle East oil in the next few years will definitely be less."
"But due to the limited resource base (of U.S. tight oil), it is going to plateau and decline. After 2020 there will be a major dominance of Middle East oil."
Oil prices would continue to rise, the IEA said, and spur development of unconventional resources such as the light, tight oil that has fueled the U.S. oil boom, oil sands in Canada, deepwater production in Brazil and natural gas liquids.
The average crude import price of IEA members will climb steadily to $128 a barrel in 2012 terms by 2035 - up $3 from 2012's outlook. The nominal price by 2035 will be $216, similar to last year's assumption.
Other nations are unlikely to match the success of the United States in tapping shale, the IEA said.

Francis Bacon painting sells for record $142.4M

Francis Bacon painting sells for record $142.4M
A woman looks at 'Three Studies of Lucian Freud,' a triptych by Francis Bacon of his friend and artist Lucian Freud during an exhibition at the Galleria Borghese in Rome Nov. 11, 2009.

Bacon's "Three Studies of Lucian Freud," sold for $142.4 million at Christie's New York, making it the most expensive in auction history.
NEW YORK — A 1969 painting by Francis Bacon set a world record for most expensive artwork ever sold at auction.
"Three Studies of Lucian Freud" was purchased for $142,405,000 at Christie's postwar and contemporary art sale on Tuesday night. The triptych depicts Bacon's artist friend.
The work sold after "6 minutes of fierce bidding in the room and on the phone," Christie's said in a statement. The price includes the buyer's premium. Christie's did not say who bought the painting.
The price surpassed the nearly $120 million paid for Edvard Munch's "The Scream," which set a world record when it was sold at Sotheby's in a 2012 sale.
The previous record for Bacon's artwork sold at auction was his 1976 "Triptych." That sold for $86 million in 2008.
Among other highlights scheduled to be auctioned at Christie's is a bright orange-yellow and white oil painting by Mark Rothko. Reminiscent of a radiating sunset, the 1957 large-scale "Untitled (No. 11)" could fetch up to $35 million. In May 2012, Christie's sold Rothko's "Orange, Red, Yellow" for $86.8 million, a record for any contemporary artwork at auction.
Christie's also has an iconic Andy Warhol, "Coca-Cola (3)," estimated to sell for $40 million to $60 million. The Warhol auction record is $71.7 million for "Green Car Crash (Green Burning Car I)," sold in 2007.
On Wednesday evening, Sotheby's is offering Warhol's "Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster)," a provocative double-panel painting that could bring as much as $80 million.
Warhol produced four paintings in the "Death and Disaster" series. The other three are in museums.

Scientists: Oldest big cat fossil found in Tibet

Scientists: Oldest big cat fossil found in Tibet

A nearly complete skull dug up in Tibet, believed to be closely related to the snow leopard, was estimated to be 4.4 million years old.
LOS ANGELES — Scientists have unearthed the oldest big cat fossil yet, suggesting the predator — similar to a snow leopard — evolved in Asia and spread out.
The nearly complete skull dug up in Tibet was estimated at 4.4 million years old — older than the big cat remains recovered from Tanzania dating to about 3.7 million years ago, the team reported.
This artist rendering by Mauricio Anton of the Proceedings of the Royal Society B shows a reconstruction of an extinct big cat, Panthera blytheae, based on skull CT scan data.

While the new specimen is not a direct ancestor to big cats like tigers, lions, jaguars, it is closely related to the snow leopard, said study leader Jack Tseng of the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
The find was detailed in Wednesday's Proceedings of the Royal Society B: Biological Sciences.

In 2010, Tseng and colleagues drove to the Himalayas to go fossil hunting. The team split up to cover more ground. While hiking on a mountaintop, Tseng's wife, Juan Liu, a graduate student, found a trove of scattered bones and radioed others to help collect them. As they started digging, they found a buried cat skull about the size of a large grapefruit.

Chris Hayes reports on the armed response in Texas to the gathering of four women to talk about gun control.

12:56 PM By No comments

Men piling out of cars with rifles and automatic weapons, in response to four women meeting to talk about gun control.

A woman so frightened that she refuses to reveal her identity on television.

THIS is the group of people who believe that they deserve to be allowed to walk around armed in this country?

And I have a question, why would these morons need to get out the "self defense tools" if they were not needed for self defense? (And by the way that is the DUMBEST name for weapons that I have ever heard.)

In my opinion bullies, especially bullies who only feel tough when they have a gun, don't get to have her way. They get their asses kicked.

And if there are any REAL men in Texas they should be hunting these assholes down and showing them that not everybody is afraid of their store bought penis extenders.

A little inconvenient truth for Atheists and Liberals. We think we are winning, but we are losing.

12:09 PM By No comments

A little inconvenient truth for Atheists and Liberals. We think we are winning, but we are losing.
This comes to us courtesy of Alternet:

We are winning the wrong game!

We are losing the right game. We are winning the cultural war, but the Christian Right is winning in the race to control the levers of power. They hold the keys to our democracy, while we have clever bumper stickers, funny t-shirts, and books that deride virgin births and angry sky gods. The soldiers of God are playing a game that can only be described as Jedi Knight-ish. Meanwhile, we are being made to look juvenile, bellicose, and down right moronic. The Christian Right is ripping our arms off at the shoulder and then slapping us in the face with the soggy bits. It’s embarrassing, and if this were a football game the scoreboard would read: Christian right –120 versus free thinkers – 3. Someone invoke the mercy rule! Also, I hate football metaphors.

You see, all around this great country, atheists are meeting in cafes, living rooms and Holiday Inn conference rooms to meet, share donuts and talk about how we can remove “In God We Trust” from the dollar bill; and how best we deal with removing “One nation under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance, in an attempt to reverse the sneaky-handed 1954 bill pushed through congress in 1954 by Christian zealot President Eisenhower. We protest home school conventions; any display of the Ten Commandments; and there are even atheist groups who file lawsuits every winter in their respective cities to ensure nothing but the secular “meaning” of Christmas is promoted.

Look, all these actions are fine with me but, let’s be honest, they make us look like assholes. And frankly, if you’re filing legal action to prevent others from declaring, “Merry Christmas”, then you most definitely are an asshole!

What’s worse is that atheists are wasting far too much intellectual and emotional energy on battles that lack real political gain or consequence. In other words, we’re taking pot shots at an ideological enemy that’s out of range and forward marching in another direction, and where they’re dropping their ordinance is hurting us. Greatly! While we are busy playing the role of the nation’s police force for political correctness, they are gerrymandering voting districts to ensure they regain and maintain control of the levers of congressional and gubernatorial power.

While we chant, “Keep the Bible out of the classroom”, they are helping legislate voter ID laws that disenfranchise millions of black, Hispanic, and student voters. While we demand a removal of God from the Pledge of Allegiance, they are stacking the courts with their ideological judicial wingnuts. While we are correcting Christmas carolers with, “Happy Holidays”, they are mobilizing to ensure money buys them judges, congressmen and governors, which not only protects the interests of big corporations at the expense of the little guy, but will also protect the interests of the Christian Right – namely, putting an end to the gay, secular, liberal agenda, and, in turn, setting gender and racial equality back 50 years.

Poll after poll shows that a majority of Americans favor liberal policies, but our courts and legislatures are increasingly becoming controlled and driven by the Christian Right. Their victories are having a far more reaching impact on our lives and our secular democratic values than our small-minded wins to remove the 10 Commandments from some hick town’s courthouse.

Dare I say "Amen?"

He is exactly right.

Our numbers may be growing, and perhaps the future is ours for the taking, but today the battles are being fought in school boards, town assemblies, and political backrooms all of the country and not only are we losing, we don't even have any soldiers on the field.

One of the purposes of this blog is to demonstrate both the harm that fundamentalist religions do in the country, but the other is to demonstrate that one can be a good, loving, and moral person without religion.

Believe it or not there are a great number of people in this country who flat out do not believe that is possible. And before we can be leaders we have to accepted as actual human beings first.

After all how many out of the closet Atheist Congressmen do you know?

Time is on our side, the erosion of religion is happening all around us, and the conservative movement is literally dying out, but we also have to prepare for the potentially devastating damage caused by the death throes of a group that has long held ultimate power in this country, and which will do ANYTHING it has to in order to hang onto it as long as possible.

There are going to be some rather serious conflicts. Some political, some intellectual, and perhaps more than a few, even physical.

Much like the Virgin Mary, Sarah Palin takes her ass to Bethlehem in order to reveal to the world her creation. Another stupid book. Update!

Much like the Virgin Mary, Sarah Palin takes her ass to Bethlehem in order to reveal to the world her creation. Another stupid book. Update!
"OMGD! You people ARE gullible enough to buy anther ghostwritten book."
Courtesy of The Morning Call:

It was everything red-blooded Americans love: politics, Christmas and 20 percent off.

There was a hum of anticipation Tuesday evening at the Barnes & Noble at Southmont Center in Bethlehem Township. It was too early for Black Friday. Stephen King's new thriller was already out. Bill O'Reilly's latest effort was old news.

The buzz centered on Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate, and her new book, "Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas."

Bethlehem being the Christmas City, it was a fitting kickoff for Palin's new book.

The Fox News pundit met her fans — at least 600 of them — shook hands and emitted a million-watt smile behind a table strung with ornaments and beside a lighted tree. The men and women, babies and great-grandmothers swooned and giggled.

"She is the embodiment of American exceptionalism," said Ronnie DelBacco of Easton. (Clearly a Fox News viewer.)

DelBacco was first in line to see Palin. He arrived at the store at 5 a.m. to secure his spot. As he approached Palin at 6 p.m., gripping two copies of her new book, he shook hands with her and her husband, Todd Palin.

Only six hundred? Those numbers are almost as bad as the ones from her Anchorage book tour in 2010, and we hate her ass!

These are clearly the percentage of people who either get all of their information from Fox News and Right Wing radio, or who are so uninformed that they simply do not know very much about Sarah Palin.

That does not seem to bode well for a book that she has been on literally EVERY network trying to sell.

I like this quote:

Christopher Collopy of Chester County, wearing a red shirt and a star-spangled-banner top hat, said he got to the store early enough that he killed the hours before the signing by reading the first few chapters of the book.

"It's good," he said, "though most of the stuff I already knew."

Yeah, I would not look for any originality coming from a book written for Sarah Palin to hawk to the paint chip eaters. It is hard enough for the ghostwriter just to wade through her bizarre ramblings and edit them down so that they some kind of sense.

I will hand it to Palin for going all out this time in order to drum up interest, but let's face it MOST of the interest will be of the kind that circus sideshows attract when Jo Jo the Dog Face Boy is a featured performer.

Update: Chelsea Handler's segment on Palin's book ("Sarah Palin hates Jews!") is not to be missed.

Update 2: I also think this article by the Atlantic Wire is a must read:

For the people I spoke with, Palin was no longer a politician. She was a communicator, a symbol of conservatism and Christian forthrightness and traditional values. Of the three or four people I asked, none could remember who they'd voted for in the 2012 Republican primary. Politics, for most of us most of the time, is a clunky, complex irrelevance. For many, it seemed, Palin had moved outside of that sphere into the realm of symbolism. They showed up to buy a book that hadn't been widely reviewed, that, for all they new, contained nothing but blank pages. But its message and the name on the front were good enough. Buying the book and meeting Sarah Palin were reinforcements of a world view — central to who they are and what they believe.

Typical Sarah Palin supporter?

In perhaps the least shocking news of the day it turns out that Ted Nugent is a liar. I know, right?

10:10 AM By No comments

In perhaps the least shocking news of the day it turns out that Ted Nugent is a liar. I know, right?
Courtesy of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel:

To hear former rocker Ted Nugent tell it, he was standing right beside Gov. Scott Walker helping the first-term governor fight for his conservative agenda in Wisconsin.

Nugent, now a National Rifle Association board member and right-wing columnist, was asked about his political activity during an Oct. 30 video chat on WCSX-FM (94.7) in Detroit. He responded by saying he often lent a helping hand to such Republican politicians as Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, former Michigan Gov. John Engler, Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Walker.

"I worked close with Scott Walker's team in Wisconsin when he took it away from the hippies and got rid of the debt and got some freedom back in Wisconsin," Nugent said.

Pretty impressive.

But Walker staffers said this week that Nugent's statement simply isn't true.

The Motor City Madman doesn't know what he's talking about.

"The governor met Ted Nugent during an NRA convention in Milwaukee years ago when he was Milwaukee county executive," said Tom Evenson, spokesman for Walker's state office. "Other than that, our office has not had involvement with him."

The NRA held its national convention here in 2006, and Nugent -- best known for such hits at "Cat Scratch Fever" and "Dog Eat Dog" -- performed the national anthem on his guitar, as Walker recalled in this interview.

Nugent did campaign last year in Sturtevant for former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson during his failed bid for a U.S. Senate seat.

But officials say he has never worked with the Walker campaign.

"We have not had any interaction with Ted Nugent," said campaign spokesman Jonathan Wetzel.

What? Ted Nugent makes shit up?

Does that mean his story about being dead or in prison if the Presdient were reelected was a lie? (After all there is still time.)

Or that his statement that "blacks are responsible for their own oppression" was a lie?

Or that he once crapped all over himself in order to avoid the draft was a lie? (I actually kind of hope that one is true.)

Gee whoda thunk it that a self described 2nd Amendment loud mouth, and animal killing enthusiast who calls Sarah Palin "friend," would be a liar?

Oh really, everybody?

Well then no wonder Scott Walker wants to make sure that everybody knows that he has nothing to do with this psycho. I wonder how long it will be before Rick Perry, Ted Cruz, and John Engler do the same.
