Dan Savage, yes THAT Dan Savage, reviews Sarah Palin's new book. And it is awesome!

Dan Savage, yes THAT Dan Savage, reviews Sarah Palin's new book. And it is awesome!
Hey do you remember how I said that this review of Palin's book from the Daily Beast was the best one ever? Yeah, I was wrong.

Dan Savage decided to force himself to wade through the waist deep mooseshit which makes up this steaming pile, and his observations, and reactions, are NOT to be missed.

Don't believe me?

Well try this on for size:

Here's a picture of Sarah Palin's grandson—who for a time was the most famous fetus on the planet (2008, Republican National Convention)—and a quote:

"'All this for me? And I wasn't even very good!'

—My grandson, Tripp Easton Mitchell [Johnston], upon seeing the presents beneath the Christmas tree, 2012" All this for me—and I wasn't even that good.

Translate that into Latin and it could be on the Palin family's coat of arms.

That is awesome.

But there is more, so much more.

Savage keeps getting overcome with anger as he tries to crawl through the stupidity and hate in the book, but can barely get started before he has to stop and regroup.

Like when he gets to page five. (That's right 5!)

Here I learn something I didn't know and, if I were Sarah Palin, something I wouldn't want anyone to know. But Sarah hustles this fact to the front of the book because she sure as hell wants us to know it: Sarah surprised Todd with a "nice, needed, powerful gun" for Christmas in 2012. It was a "small act of civil disobedience," Palin writes, prompted by "the anti-gun chatter coming from Washington."

What was inspiring that anti-gun chatter in Washington in December of 2012? Oh, right: Twenty children and six teachers were shot dead in their classrooms by a deranged asshole with a "powerful gun." And before the grieving mothers and fathers of Newtown, Connecticut, could put their dead children in the ground, Sarah Palin ran out gun shopping. Buying Todd a gun in the wake of the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary was "fun," Palin writes—and, again, an act of "civil disobedience." Because gun nuts are a persecuted minority.

This paragraph about gun shopping in December of 2012—one first grader at Sandy Hook was shot 11 times—ends with Palin bragging about her tits. I'm not kidding. Okay, I have to put the book down.

I'm five pages into Good Tidings and Great Joy and... Jesus Fucking Christ... I have got to put down this toxic little shitstain of a book. I'm going to go wash my eyes out with hydrogen peroxide. Be right back.

That should be the reaction from just about anybody subjecting their sensibilities to this ghostwritten roadkill.

Courageously Savage wades back in:

Secularists have a vision for Christmas—and Sarah doesn't care for it, not one bit.

"The other vision is a secular winter festival, which launches on Black Friday and ends sometime after Kwanzaa. People who hold Christmas in contempt believe the holiday can be 'saved' from its religious heritage. The secular vision wants the 'peace' and the 'goodwill toward men' without the miracle of the Virgin Birth—forgetting, of course, that there is no ultimate peace apart from Christ, and it is Christ who empowers every act of 'goodwill toward men' in our otherwise fallen hearts."

Two things:

1. Who holds Christmas in contempt? Who? Where are these people? I'm a secular humanist—there's an award from the Freedom from Religion Foundation on my mantel just inches from my Christmas tree—and here I am, at home on a Saturday morning, baking Christmas cookies for my family. Not holiday cookies. Christmas cookies. I'll be taking some across the street to share with my Jewish neighbors later today. They love Christmas. And no one is trying to "save" Christmas from its heritage. We have a crèche for the baby Jesus and strings of lights for the Roman god Saturn. We honor Christmas's religious heritage—the Christian and non-Christian bits.

2. You read it here first: No Jew—or Muslim or Hindu or Buddhist or atheist—ever performed a kind, loving, or selfless act. Or if a Jew ever did such a thing, that Jew was "empowered" to do so by Christ. Unwittingly inspired. And no human being ever performed a kind, loving, or selfless act before Christ was born.

I just threw Sarah Palin's book across the room—no, scratch that. I just threw it clear across the house. If our front door had been open, her book would've sailed across the street and onto our Jewish neighbor's porch across the street.

Sorry, gang, but I gotta take another hydrogen peroxide break.

I hate to give away the ending, but ultimately Dan Savage simply cannot subject himself to venom soaked volume long enough to even get past the introduction before his partner stages an intervention,

However in my opinion, his inability to actually read the entire thing, is probably the most honest reaction to this bullshit book that I can imagine.

Personally if I met somebody who had read this book and still claimed to have retained their sanity I would slowly back away from them and assume they were either lying through their teeth or possessed by the demon Beelzebub.

Actual picture of Beelzebub.

Here's a shocker, the Duck Dynasty guys are homophobic. I know, right? Update!

Here's a shocker, the Duck Dynasty guys are homophobic. I know, right? Update!
Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly:

In statements that threaten the A&E reality hit’s wildly popular and uplifting brand of faith, family and hunting, the Robertson patriarch said: “Everything is blurred on what’s right and what’s wrong… Sin becomes fine. Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.” Robertson then paraphrased Corinthians from the Bible: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

And if that wasn’t explicit enough, the “Duck Commander” added: “It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

The magazine suggested Robertson’s son Jep endorsed his family’s beliefs: “We’re not quite as outspoken as my dad, but I’m definitely in line. If somebody asks, I tell ’em what the Bible says.”

Well that resulted in GLAAD issuing a condemnation of the statement.

Which of course resulted in A&E forcing Phil Robertson to issue and almost apology, but not quite, like statement:

A&E released this statement from Phil Robertson addressing the controversy: “I myself am a product of the 60s; I centered my life around sex, drugs and rock and roll until I hit rock bottom and accepted Jesus as my Savior. My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the Bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and men are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me. We are all created by the Almighty and like Him, I love all of humanity. We would all be better off if we loved God and loved each other.” Beyond that, A&E had no comment.

Okay here's my question, concerning the potential for A&E losing viewers over this, do ANY gay people even watch Duck Dynasty?

And here's my second question, did ANYBODY expect these hillbillies to NOT to homophobic? I mean to me it is almost like being shocked that people attending a KKK rally don't care for black people that much.

After all look who these guys hang out with.

Nuff said.

P.S. You can read the entire GQ article here.

Update: Oops looks like somebody got suspended:

A&E broke its silence on Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments late Wednesday.

The cable network announced Robertson is off the hit show for the time being.

Hey if Alec Baldwin has to be let go for comments made in a fit of anger, there is NO way these ZZ Top wannabes are going to get a free pass.

Sarah Palin, heart of gold? Seriously? Update!

Sarah Palin, heart of gold? Seriously? Update!
Sarah Palin gets picture taken with same Down Syndrome boy who she had her picture taken with during 2009.
Somebody sent me this link today in the comments section from an article with a rather jaw dropping pro-Palin point of view.

Check this ass kissing out for yourself:

As she meets with ordinary Americans all across the heartland, Palin makes a point to connect with families who have children with special needs.

It has been five years since Palin promised those families on national television, “I pledge to you that…you have a friend, an advocate, in the White House.” Well, she may not be in the White House, but she has certainly reached out to families all across the country and continues to keep in touch – a rarity these days.

Yes, Palin is a rarity these days – one who embraces and fights for the real hope that the Christmas season offers. Following a recent speech at Liberty University’s Convocation to thousands, one of the students, Hal, asked Palin: “Who’s been your biggest inspiration?”

And after all that Palin has been through, as a hockey mom in Wasilla pursuing the first female Vice-Presidency of the United States of America, enduring relentless attacks from the left, right, and center, her answer may surprise you.

Palin candidly replied, “Today, my biggest inspiration’s been my youngest child, Trig, a five-year-old who was born with Down syndrome, born with challenges that are going to be greater than most of us will ever face.”

“Todd and I say all the time we wouldn’t change anything in our family, any of the situations for the world, because we get to see what God has shown us – what true perfection is, and that is this true perfection of our son. There’s the world’s standards of perfection, and then there’s God’s standards of perfection. And it’s His standards at the end of the day that really matter.”

“When we look at our son, we are inspired; we are motivated; we are more compassionate. We feel gifted and fortunate to have Trig in our lives. He is the most influential person in my family’s life today, and I thank God for our son, Trig,” Palin said, beaming with a proud smile.

Sarah Palin sincerely empowers average, everyday Americans, and in the same way, she fights for those who cannot fight for themselves. She stands up for the underdogs – not only pre-born children, but children who have already been born with greater challenges than most will ever experience. In fact, over 90 percent of children diagnosed with Down syndrome are aborted before they are ever allowed to experience this world.

Hang on a second I am still dry heaving over that.

Okay for one thing Palin has done virtually NOTHING for the Down syndrome community, outside of a couple of speeches (Which she may have been compensated for, with travel expenses and hotel accommodations.) and a handful of photo-ops with Down syndrome children during her book tours.
Trig in a rare photo with his adopted mom from March of this year.
As for Trig well he is being cared for mostly in Alaska while Palin flies all over the country.

She and Todd are currently living in different states so if she and Todd say anything "all the time" it is by phone.

And the only people who Palin "empowers" are those on the Left who she energized by being the living embodiment of everything that is wrong with the Right Wing in this country.

Essentially the woman is the biggest phony on the planet and I am surprised that even an anti-choice rag like Live Action News could not see that for themselves.

I will never get over just how many ignorant people there are in this country.

Update: Well it looks like McCain is finally tired of Palin's meddling with GOP politics as well.

This from The Hill:

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said he prayed Sarah Palin does not get involved in a GOP Senate primary fight in South Carolina.

But the Arizona senator said he does not expect her to target the primary fight with his friend, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.).

“Oh, I pray she wouldn’t do that,” McCain told The New York Times in a wide-ranging interview. “And you know, I find it hard to believe that she would.”

Palin, McCain’s vice presidential running mate in 2008, has hinted about targeting South Carolina and a number of other states housing GOP incumbents up for reelection.

During the interview, he continued to defend Palin but appeared uninterested in relitigating his pick for running mate.

“I’ve moved on,” McCain said. “What’s the statute of limitations on this issue?”

No there is no statue of limitations on this, anymore than there was for Victor Von Frankenstein after he released HIS creature onto an unsuspecting populace. Sarah Palin will be a smear against John McCain for the rest of his life, and even unto death.

President Obama chooses openly gay delegates to send to the Olympic games in openly homophobic Russia. We'll call this "Putting it to Putin."

President Obama chooses openly gay delegates to send to the Olympic games in openly homophobic Russia. We'll call this "Putting it to Putin."
Courtesy of HuffPo:

President Barack Obama on Tuesday announced his delegates to the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia. And, in what may be a thumb in the eye to Russian President Vladimir Putin over his crackdown on gay rights, two of Obama's delegates are openly gay.

Billie Jean King, the tennis legend, and Caitlin Cahow, an Olympic medalist in women’s ice hockey, are both part of the U.S. delegation. Both are out lesbians.

Another member of the U.S. delegation, figure skating Olympic medalist Brian Boitano, routinely declines to answer questions about his sexuality, saying "everybody's got their own path" to discovering who they are.

Others in the delegation include University of California President Janet Napolitano, the former Homeland Security secretary; U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul; White House Deputy Chief of Staff Rob Nabors; Deputy Secretary of State William Burns, and speed skating Olympic medalists Bonnie Blair and Eric Heiden.

In what may be another slight to the Russian president, Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and first lady Michelle Obama will not attend the opening ceremony. This marks the first time since the 2000 Summer Olympic Games that a president, vice president, first lady or former president won't be part of the opening ceremony.

God I love this President!

My daughter and I had quite the giggle about this yesterday.

However she said that a lot of her friends were simply planning to boycott watching the Olympics and wish the US had done the same.

I argued that by doing so all we do is punish our own athletes who have been training for years to compete, and reminded her of my own personal frustration as a young gymnast when our incredible male gymnastic team of 1980, was denied their shot at the gold due to the Russians invading Afghanistan. (Ironic isn't it?)

I also reminded her that in1936, when Adolph Hitler was attempting to use the games to demonstrate the supremacy of the Aryan race, that America did not boycott, but rather sent their best, whihc resulted in this iconic photograph.

I said that showing up and forcing Russia to deal with their prejudice during an event heavily covered by the national media was far better than simply hiding at home, and cowering in fear while LGBT Russians were being attacked on the streets.

She asked what would happen if gay athletes, or their supporters, were assaulted while in Russia, and I said then they would tell the world and that is how change is brought to a society that does not want to be left behind by the rest of the world.
