Actor Chris O'Dowd thinks following a religion will eventually become as offensive and unacceptable as racism.

The Irish star of films such as The Sapphires and Bridesmaids says he grew up respecting people of faith despite his atheist views, but has become "less liberal" as he ages.

Now he says religious doctrine is halting human progress and brands it "a weird cult".

O'Dowd has told Britain's GQ magazine: "For most of my life, I've been, 'Hey, I'm not into it, but I respect your right to believe whatever you want'. But as time goes on, weirdly, I'm growing less liberal. I'm more like, 'No, religion is ruining the world, you need to stop!'.

"There's going to be a turning point where it's going to be like racism. You know, 'You're not allowed to say that weird s**t! It's mad! And you're making everybody crazy!'

"And you know, now America can't have a president that doesn't say he believes in God. So we're f**ked! Like, they f**ked everything!

"You wanna go and live in your weird cult and talk about a man who lives in a cloud, you do that, but don't. I mean, you really think that Barack Obama believes in God? No way!"

Interestingly enough I just finished Netflix binging on his British sitcom "The IT Crowd." It was alright, not my favorite British comedy series, but it had a laugh or two.

As for what he says, I certainly agree with a lot of it. Most of it actually.

And he is right, no person could be elected to the White House if they did not proclaim that they believe in God.

But do we REALLY think that all forty four of them did for certain?

Cause I don't.

Sarah Palin puts her luxury bus up for sale. Another sign that hard times have arrived.

Sarah Palin puts her luxury bus up for sale. Another sign that hard times have arrived.

2004 Country Coach Lexa Triple Slide!

This hard to find and very rare coach is #14 0f 14 in every built and one of the finest Luxury Coaches on the market!

The majority of the Coaches miles were put on by current owners Todd and Sarah Palin!

Wow! Putting the bus she uses to trick people into thinking she is running for office up for sale, now we KNOW that that sweet SarahPAC money is drying up quick.

Let's face it Sarah is really the only real breadwinner left in the Palin households.

Todd does fuck all right now.

Willow is now working at Forget Me Not Hair.

Bristol is finishing up at "skin school."

Who knows what Track is up to these days.

And Sarah has just come off a disappointing book tour, and is getting ready to launch a soon to be cancelled fake hunting show on the Sportsman Channel.

In the meantime she is maintaining at least two residences, feeding and caring for several family members, paying hush money, and continuing to purchase thousands of dollars worth of cosmetic surgeries.

So something had to go.

However all may not be lost for Granny Grifter.

There are reports that at least two possible jobs are opening up for her:

Sarah Palin is being wooed by two news media veterans to join a streaming network, The Post has learned.

Jonathan Klein, who ran CNN’s US operations, and Jeff Gaspin, who was most recently chairman of NBC-Universal Entertainment, have already raised enough money from deep-pocketed backers to start the over-the-top network, and have reached out to a few bold-faced names to host a show to make selling subscriptions easier, sources said.

And is the former Alaska governor and 2008 GOP vice-presidential candidate among those the two have approached?

You betcha, sources said.

Palin seemed interested but has not committed, sources added.

The problem with this? Well it's an actual job, that these gentlemen will no doubt expects Palin to show up for on a regular basis.

And not only that but, fake degree in journalism or not, Palin simply does not have the chops to do a daily radio show five days a week.

No I see more Palin belongings hitting the auction circuit instead. Perhaps that extra house in Scottsdale. That plane that Todd never seems to fly anymore. Or perhaps Trig, after all if you no longer need the pro-life vote to run for office, what good is he?

Pregnant woman accidentally shot to death by her husband, a state trooper.

Courtesy of Philly.com:

Police released the identity of a pregnant woman accidentally shot to death Friday afternoon in Montgomery County by her husband, a state trooper.

JoAnne Miller, who was 22 weeks pregnant, was taken to Mercy Suburban Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper body. She died soon after she was admitted. Doctors performed an unsuccessful emergency cesarean. "The baby never had its own breathing or heartbeat," said the Montgomery County coroner, Walter Hofman.

The shooting in the home on the 3000 block of Stony Creek Road in East Norriton occurred around 2:30 p.m. Friday, police said. The officer pulled the trigger while taking apart his .45-caliber handgun for cleaning but did not realize the gun was loaded, police said.

I am not going to make any snide remarks because this is truly a tragedy.

However it is instructional in showing that any gun introduced into a household is far likelier to put the inhabitants in danger than to protect them, even when the gun is in the hands of somebody trained to use it for protection.

This gun had a purpose, and that purpose is ostensibly to protect life, but in reality a gun is only good for one thing. And that is the taking of life.

In this case the life of a mother and her unborn child.

Now what does this remind me of?

Now what does this remind me of?
You know I often get blowback when I refer to religion as superstition.

I have never understood that.

After all this is the definition of superstition:

1: a : a belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation
b : an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or God resulting from superstition
2: a notion maintained despite evidence to the contrary

So how is that definition any different than religion? Or to the definition provided above for myth?

Thank you so much to every one who joined us yesterday in D.C. It was wonderful meeting so many energized folks at CPAC and many wonderful staff members. Keep the faith and work hard to make a difference! Sincere thanks to the NRA and ACU and all other event organizers who made the conference possible. God bless, and when we meet again next year, let's have an historic election victory to celebrate!

- Sarah Palin

Yeah I wouldn't start blowing up balloons or renting out the party room yet you Tundra Twattle.

There is much that can happen in this next election cycle, and I am one to think that after 2010 that liberals are far less likely this go around to sit on their asses while conservatives grab up more seats in the Senate and the House.

Palin may be able to hypnotize the Right Wing mouth breathers with her road kill fright wigs and constantly fluctuating chesticles, but that shit does not fly with those of us who see right through the conservative spin jockeys and Fox News propagandists.

Yeah this election COULD be yet another chance for the Republican party to take a victory lap and once again proclaim that this country leans right of center, despite all evidence to the contrary.

Personally as a proud Liberal I would like very much to make Palin and her cohorts choke on their predictions of a low turnout from minorities, young people, and liberals in this next election cycle.

A prediction by the way that conservatives made for 2012 as well, only in that case there were even fewer white votes for Mitt Romney than for John McCain and Sarah Palin, and Obama won handily.

As for Sarah Palin and CPAC, well Palin's speech was almost as full of barbs directed at the Republican establishment as toward the Liberals and Obama.

In other words she wants victory, but that victory is NOT for the Republican party. That victory is for her twisted idea of what constitutes a REAL American. You know, an under educated conservative, who gets an erection during the national anthem, and masturbates while reading the Constitution.

And that is a candidate who cannot win in an election where there is a good turnout.

So what do you say America?

As Texas closes two more Women's Health Clinics, legal abortion, for all intents and purposes, has been rendered virtually impossible in most parts of the state.

As Texas closes two more Women's Health Clinics, legal abortion, for all intents and purposes, has been rendered virtually impossible in most parts of the state.
Courtesy of the Guardian:

This week’s closure of two more Texas abortion clinics in the wake of the state’s strict new regulations means women from rural areas seeking to end pregnancies face journeys of hundreds of miles to the nearest facility.

Workers and activists held a candlelit vigil on Thursday night outside the Whole Woman’s Health clinic in McAllen to mark the closure. The shutdown means that people in the Rio Grande Valley, an area on the Mexican border with about 1.3 million inhabitants, will face logistical and financial challenges to undergo legal abortion procedures.

The valley’s metropolitan areas are often cited as among the poorest in the country. The nearest abortion clinic that meets the new required standards is in San Antonio, 240 miles away. While abortion is largely illegal across the nearby Mexican border, black-market drugs are widely available, leading to fears that women could put their heath at risk by crossing the frontier and attempting to terminate their pregnancies using unapproved and unsupervised methods.

The McAllen facility stopped providing abortions last year after doctors were unable to obtain admitting privileges at local hospitals – a new state requirement – but remained open to provide other services. However, management decided that the restrictions meant it was no longer feasible to continue operating.

The other clinic was in Beaumont, a city of about 120,000 people near the Louisiana border that is a 90-minute drive from Houston.

Amy Hagstrom Miller, the chief executive of Whole Woman’s Health, said: “Families from the Rio Grande Valley and northern Mexico, to east Texas and western Louisiana, have been turning to our clinics for safe, compassionate care since abortion was made legal in 1973. We have done everything possible to keep our clinics open but we are simply unable to survive with the new, medically unnecessary guidelines required.”

Her statement added: “The consequence of [the bill] is an injustice, plain and simple. It is an injustice to the women we serve and to our communities.”

Not only are legal abortions, which were guaranteed by Roe vs Wad, becoming a ting of the past in Texas, but these clinics also provided caner screenings, prenatal tests, and birth control, which means that Texas is now becoming a third world country when it comes to providing health care for women.

Especially poor women, because Texas also refused to implement the Affordable Care Act's Medicaid expansion.

For the record Texas had 44 clinics in 2011, and today only has 20. And that should send a chill up every Texas woman's spine.

But you know what Texas?

You can do something about it.

And it can start happening this year.

Let's put aside politics for a bit to enjoy something truly sweet.

Swiss/German girl duo BOY, performing "Little Numbers" at their first-ever Brooklyn show. In this emotional performance, Swiss singer Valeska Steiner, is surprised to hear the whole audience sing along, being that its their American debut.

Like probably the majority of you I had never heard of this band, but after watching the emotional reaction from the lead singer to the realization that her music had made an impact on this American audience I became an instant fan.

It also reminded me of this video of the amazing Adele being brought to tears by the audience singing along to "Someone Like You."

You know some days it just feels we don't have enough music and sweetness in our lives.
