When former Alaska governor Sarah Palin visited The Villages in 2008, more than 30,000 people turned out.

Emotions ran high for good reason—The Villages was Palin’s first public appearance since her nomination as the Republican Party’s Vice Presidential candidate.

The crowd at her book-signing engagement earlier today at Barnes & Noble was more modest—about 500.

A Barnes & Noble manager who asked not to be named wouldn’t estimate the crowd size—that’s against corporate policy—but admitted the store did not hand out all 750 arm bands on hand for the event.

That didn’t bother Villagers stood in line for upwards of two hours to shake the hand of the conservative icon and get her signature on a fresh copy of Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.

The $13.92 price tag was modest as well.

Ouch that had to hurt!

Yep nothing like a book tour by a dried up old has been to remind people of just what a train wreck their life has become.

Perhaps Palin is beginning to feel that sense of desperation creeping up on her as her book continues to tumble down the Amazon rankings. (Now at 252, which is 20 slots below where it was this morning when I wrote my earlier post.)

And that might explain what this is all about as well.

I think we all know that the ONLY time that Palin deigns to rub shoulders with her fans is when she is becoming desperate to repair her image and fill her bank account.

Gee, I wonder how many will even bother to show?

George Zimmerman has been arrested in Florida, NBC News has learned.

A Seminole County Sheriff's Office statement says Zimmerman was arrested Monday afternoon after deputies responded to a disturbance call at a house in Apopka, Fla., about 15 miles northwest of Orlando.

Zimmerman will be transported and booked into jail pending arraignment.

The statement provided few other details, and it was not immediately known what charges he faced.

The police have not release any details as of yet, but the Orlando Sentinel did dig up this little tidbit:

The Sheriff's Office, in a short news release, reported that the agency had arrested Zimmerman after being called to a disturbance on Topfield Court in western Seminole County near Apopka about 1 p.m.

Zimmerman's new girlfriend, a 27-year-old blonde, lives in the 1300 block of Topfield Court, according to an unrelated Lake Mary police report.

Hmm, smells like domestic abuse to me. And it is certainly not the first time he has had run ins with the law over that in the past.

The only question is what will it take before George Zimmerman is locked away for good? It is not like we were not warned that he was dangerous.

Gee even after subjecting herself to interviews on the Today Show, CNN, and USA Today she still cannot convince anyone outside of her rapidly shrinking group of supporters. (For context it should be noted that "Going Rogue" sold in excess of 2 million books, most of which were sold in the first few weeks.)

Also keep in mind that the sales for these conservative books are artificially padded through the use of bulk sales to conservative groups who then give them away with donations or subscription to their periodicals or websites. So the question to ask is, are they still doing that for Palin? Or are they doing it in a far less aggressive fashion due to her fading popularity?

By the by, I think that THIS, and not the Bashir controversy, is the main reason why Palin is taking back her invitation to have Matt Lauer fly up to Alaska to interview her.

Or perhaps it was HE who determined that it was a waste of his time and NBC resources to interview a has been who is no longer relevant to anything or anybody.

An interview involving Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday turned testy when the subject shifted to the Affordable Care Act.

During an appearance on CNN's "New Day," Cruz repeated his call to "start over" on health care reform, arguing that the law simply "isn't working." Host Chris Cuomo pushed back on that contention.

"How can we say it's not working when it isn't implemented yet?" Cuomo asked. "How can you say premiums are skyrocketing when they haven't put the plans into effect yet? You’re being a little dangerous with how much political spin you put on something that’s so central to the wellbeing of so many families?"

"Well, I appreciate the adjective you tossed my way," Cruz shot back.

When Cruz said he's heard from "men and women across Texas" who have lost their health insurance as a result of Obamacare, Cuomo pressed the senator on what solutions he would offer to those people.

“You don’t think that you have a responsibility as a U.S. Senator to do better than that in terms of offering a solution on what to do next?” the host asked.

“Well, I appreciate you’re trying to lecture me in the morning," Cruz said. "Thank you for that.”

Seriously how many men and women do we REALLY think put their hands on the shoulders of Ted Cruz to tell him they that had lost their health insurance? Yeah, none.

Cruz of course does not volunteer the fact that those "five million" people losing their health insurance are actually being offered alternate plans by their companies and now have the opportunity to find more comprehensive and less expensive insurance plans thanks to Obamacare.

Of course Cruz offers NOTHING of any value to solve the health care crisis in this country, except more demagoguery and attacks on the President for trying to do something to help. (You will notice that Cruz mentions nothing about the five million Americans who will not get insurance coverage because of Republican governor's refusal to expand medicaid in their states,)

Cruz is a sleazy, slippery, reptilian piece of shit, and I have no trouble believing that he is as widely disliked by his fellow Republicans as has been reported in the past.

Bottom line this guy cares about nobody except Ted Cruz, and believes he is above reproach, which is well illustrated by his snippy response to these questions posed by Chris Cuomo.

Views of the Republican Party’s ideological leaning are essentially the same as the tea party.

Forty percent say the tea party is too conservative — about the same number as say the Republican Party is too conservative (43 percent). While 36 percent of Americans say the views of the GOP are “about right,” 35 percent say the same of the tea party.

Views of the GOP and the tea party are virtually the same across all demographics. Fifty-five percent of moderates say the GOP is too conservative, versus 52 percent who say the same of the tea party.

In other words, if the tea party has moved the GOP to the right — and it has — it has done so to such an extent they are now viewed as ideologically very similar.

So while the establishment Republicans are locked in a pitched battle for control of their party with the Teabaggers, the rest of the country sees them as one and the same.

What was it the comic strip character Pogo once said?

This is pretty good news for the progressives moving toward 2014. Now if only we can get that damn website up and running, and manage not to shoot ourselves in the foot, we might have a real shot at gaining some seats and getting this country back on track.

Japanese carmaker Toyota has said it is looking to start commercial sales of fuel cell-powered cars by 2015.

Toyota set the target as it unveiled a concept fuel cell powered car, called the FCV, at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Its cells can be recharged within minutes and it can cover about 500km (300 miles) on a single charge, according to the firm.

Earlier this week, rival Hyundai said it plans to start mass production of such cars as early as next year.

The South Korean company has announced plans to start commercial sales of a fuel cell-powered version of its sports utility vehicle, the Tucson, in the US market.

Honda Motor is also expected to unveil its latest concept version of a fuel cell-powered vehicle later this week.

Many carmakers have been looking to develop the fuel cell technology further and bring it to mass production.

One of the main reasons is that it is emission-free.

The technology uses hydrogen to generate electricity to power the engine and the waste products are heat and harmless water.

At the same time, fuel cells charge much faster and travel a longer distance after being charged, compared with battery-operated electric cars.

I have to admit that I have been waiting for some real movement on this front for quite some time now. As a matter of fact I have been keeping my Durango tuned up and in good repair hoping that it will last long enough for me to move to a non-fossil fuel powered car with my next purchase.

I had some hopes of going electric, but this actually sounds much more promising. IF they can work out the issue of getting enough hydrogen filling stations built to meet demand.

Oh well, here's hoping that the oil companies don't do everything in their power to destroy our chances of moving to this new technology like they once did in response to the electric car.

By the way this is one of the few topics these days on which my daughter and I are in complete agreement.

In a closely watched, first-of-its-kind municipal election, voters in New Mexico's largest city have defeated a proposed ban on late-term abortions.

Voters in Albuquerque on Tuesday rejected the measure 55 to 45 percent, following an emotional and graphic campaign that brought in national groups and hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising. The campaign included protests that compared abortion to the Holocaust and displayed pictures of aborted fetuses.

A coalition of groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico and Planned Parenthood, called the results a huge victory for Albuquerque women and families.

"Albuquerque families sent a powerful message today — they do not want the government interfering in their private medical decisions," Micaela Cadena, of the Respect ABQ Women campaign, said in a statement.

"Dangerous, unconstitutional laws like the one we rejected today have no place in Albuquerque, no place in New Mexico, no place anywhere in our nation," she added.

This is great news!

I have to admit that I was worried that this law was going to pass and that it would set a precedent for a number of southern cities to follow suit.

But damn if logic, common sense, and rational thinking didn't save the day again.

(Nov. 19, 2013) — At approximately 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, The Post & Email published an exclusive report on the trip to Washington, DC made by a group of individuals under the WheresObamasBirthCertificate.com (WOBC) banner to show evidence of the forgery of Obama’s long-form birth certificate and Selective Service registration form contained in “Sheriff’s Kits” produced by WOBC founder Michael Volin.

The Sheriff’s Kits consist of information compiled and presented by Maricopa County, AZ Cold Case Posse lead investigator Michael Zullo.

Volin had told us earlier that 75 such kits had been distributed to members of Congress, their staffers and in some cases, chiefs of staff. Over the August congressional recess, Volin and others met with their respective congressmen in their district offices.

As of 9:00 p.m. EST, 25 more kits have been handed out and more demonstrations given to available personnel, at least one of whom was a congressman. Citizens from across the country traveled to Washington to participate in the distribution of the kits.

Volin reported this evening that the reaction he and his group encountered was “courteous and receptive.” “There were a lot more questions asked than I had expected,” Volin said. “I had no preconceived ideas about anything, whether they had a “D” or an “R” after their name. We just went in there because ‘You are a congressman and we need you to do your job,’” Volin explained.

There were several scheduled appointments, but in between, Volin and the others visited congressional offices and spoke with available staffers. Volin expressed his thanks to everyone who contacted his or her congressman and set up the meetings.

Volin told The Post & Email that his group made a “special stop” at Rep. Steve Stockman‘s office to deliver letters which Volin had solicited over the last several weeks. “They came pouring in,” he said of the letters. “We hand-delivered the letters to Stockman’s office. We had a meeting for at least 45 minutes with one of his aides. We were told to by his aide to follow up with him. They want an additional meeting not only with me, but also with Mike Zullo. They are requesting additional information, and not only Stockman’s office. There were other congressmen’s offices that want more information and actually requested it.”

The Post & Email asked if most people they spoke with seemed to know about the findings of forgery in Obama’s long-form birth certificate and Selective Service form. “We started our visits identifying ourselves and saying why we were there. We asked them if they knew anything about the investigation. Surprisingly enough, there was a handful that said, ‘No, they had no idea.’ There was another handful that said they had heard something and were aware of something, but they didn’t know how far it had gone. Most of the people were aware of Sheriff Joe Arpaio; I believe there was one congressman’s office out of the hundred or so we visited which had never heard of Sheriff Joe, but we still went on with the presentation,” Volin said.

Volin explained that they “set the stage” to speak with the staffers by explaining that they were sharing the results of a law enforcement investigation, referring to the Cold Case Posse’s work.

Of Stockman’s staff, Volin said they were “more positive” than any of the other congressmen’s offices. “They were more willing to listen to us and work with us,” Volin said. Zullo has reported that Stockman has pledged his assistance in probing the findings of the posse by Congress.

A constituent of House Majority Whip Rep. Kevin McCarthy reported that he spoke personally with the congressman for approximately 30 minutes which took place “in the Majority Whip office in the Capitol Building.” “It was awesome!” the constituent reported of the prearranged meeting.

“This was my fourth meeting with either him or his staff. I met with the staff twice in the district and then I had a conversation with the congressman in a town hall meeting which was actually a video-conference. In that one, I asked him if he would support Rep. Steve Stockman in his efforts to open a congressional investigation regarding the forged birth certificate and other forgeries. I got a quick, standard answer that ‘We believe the president has a birth certificate.’ I chose not to confront him at that point and just left it,” the constituent said, saying that he would “continue to inform and educate.”

Today, the constituent showed the contents of the sheriff’s kit, and Volin showed the DVD presentation of all of the videos on his website. “Rather than pull the DVD out, I had queued up on my I-Phone from Mike’s website the last DVD in that series, which is the one about the Selective Service card. It’s a three-minute video; it’s really easy to watch and understand. It’s not technical; you’re not dealing with computer software or hardware. It’s old-school, postal stamp, cut-and-paste. He was not familiar with that one at all. He’d heard about the other stuff but not that. He was very surprised about it and said, ‘I’m going to go and check my own Selective Service card. I want to see if it really is four digits. I’m going to follow up on this.’ And I said, ‘May I get back to you on this?’ and he said, ‘Absolutely.’”

The constituent said he believes McCarthy had heard the “standard Republican line” of “Let’s not bring this Birther thing up.” However, the constituent believes that “the tide is changing in Washington; the poll numbers are going down; the press is starting to turn; the whole Obamacare rollout is a disaster, and it’s a good time to pick on him [Obama].”

“Our goal is to see a congressional investigation or a grand jury investigates this,” the constituent told The Post & Email, to which McCarthy reportedly “nodded his head.”

The constituent said that he and a partner visited 20 congressional offices, including those of Sens. Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.

Volin’s closing statement to The Post & Email was “Don’t think that Congress is dead. It’s not over. You need to contact your congressman and let them know that you’re not going to take it any more and that you want them to look into this investigation and other matters. I think we’ve been bullied too much into thinking that Congress doesn’t represent us. If they get enough phone calls and enough support they will act.”

(Nov. 19, 2013) — 2:00 p.m. EST – The Post & Email has just spoken with Michael Volin of WheresObamasBirthCertificate.com, who is in Washington, DC meeting with congressmen, senators, their aides and chiefs of staff with information on the Obama birth certificate and Selective Service registration card forgeries.

Michael Volin of WheresObamasBirthCertificate.com assembled “Sheriff’s Kits” containing investigative information from the Maricopa County, AZ Cold Case Posse, which determined that Obama’s long-form birth certificate and Selective Service registration form are “computer-generated forgeries.”

Volin reported that approximately 75 “Sheriff’s Kits” have been distributed over Monday and Tuesday. Volin assembled the kits himself from information presented by the Maricopa County, AZ Cold Case Posse‘s lead investigator, Michael Zullo.

On April 27, 2011, an image of a long-form birth certificate was posted on the White House website and quickly declared a forgery by experts. In September of that year, a law enforcement investigation was launched by the Cold Case Posse which determined after six months that the image was a “computer-generated forgery.”

The mainstream media refused to report or investigate the posse’s findings, and concerned Americans have taken the responsibility of notifying their congressmen and requesting action.

Volin said that he and others who traveled from as far as California are “still making appointments” with congressional offices on Tuesday and urged concerned citizens to call their congressmen to ask for a meeting before 6:00 p.m. Anyone whose congressman has agreed to a meeting can contact Volin directly at 570-394-2570.

Zullo has been pressing Congress for an investigation since March of this year and has met with several congressmen by phone and in person.

Volin indicated that the biggest eye-opener for many staffers was the information about the forgery of the Selective Service registration card, which was also declared by Cold Case Posse on March 1, 2012 at a formal press conference. He told The Post & Email that no one was “hostile,” and some staffers said, referring to the forgeries, “We’re working on it.”

Last week, radio host and pastor Carl Gallups announced that new information had been confirmed with documentary evidence about Obama’s background which goes “far beyond the birth certificate.” Obama has never released his college transcripts or records, scholarly papers, school records, medical records or passport information.

Some speculate that Obama’s parents are not those he has identified and that Obama has perpetrated identity fraud to gain access to the White House.

Obama’s short-form Certification of Live Birth released on June 12 2008 has also been deemed a forgery by the posse and other investigators.

Presidential candidate Cody Robert Judy has also reported that Congress is aware of the forgeries and their ramifications on Obama’s constitutional eligibility to serve as president and commander-in-chief. Judy has been in touch with congressional leaders over the past three weeks and urged Americans to fax their representatives to urge hearings.

Obama has been deceptive on the health care bill; the terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya which killed four Americans on September 11, 2012; and the NSA surveillance of overseas and domestic individuals. On Monday, The New York Post reported that an employee at the U.S. Census Bureau has confessed to having “faked” an alleged reduction in the unemployment rate in September 2012 from 8.1% to 7.8% before the presidential election in November at the request of “higher-ups at Census.”

Cites Nixon resignation, urges citizens 'to save republic' from Washington leadership

WASHINGTON – A retired Army general is calling for the “forced resignations” of President Obama, other administration officials and the leadership of Congress for the direction they’re taking the nation, his list of grievances including the systematic political purge of hundreds of senior military officers in the U.S. military.

Retired Maj. Gen. Paul E. Vallely told WND he is calling for nationwide rallies and protests to demand the resignations and added that a peaceful “civil uprising is still not out of question.”

In his capacity as chairman of the organization Stand Up America, Vallely issued what he termed a “National Call to Action” to force the resignations of Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

Vallely, formerly the deputy commanding general of Pacific Command, said the current crop of leaders must be forced to resign by the “demand resignation” process, which he explained requires massive grass-roots protests and social networking. As an example, he cited the public and media pressure that led to the resignation of President Richard Nixon.

Impeachment, Vallely said, is not a viable option because of “partisan politics.”

“Our federal government continues down the path of destroying America,” he said. “Americans must now stand up and put America back on the right track.”

In issuing his national call to action, Vallely said the federal government has not subsided in “sucking the oxygen” out of America.

“And we call to action all branches of government to do your constitutional duties and not be led astray in the cultural and moral decay of America. We have witnessed far too many lies,” he said, as well as “deception and the corruption of the republic.”

Vallely reminds Americans that the Declaration of Independence itself states that whenever “any Form of Government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem more likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”

Vallely said the nation he long defended is self-destructing “before our very eyes,” because of “our inept and incompetent leadership in Washington.”
