October 12th, 2013 - New Egypt, NJ - Governor Sarah Palin spoke at today's [8/12] campaign rally for New Jersey republican senate candidate, Steve Lonegan. Sponsored by the Tea Party Express, the event was held at the New Egypt Speedway. - iizthatiiz.

The Free Patriot: Is Booker Ineligible for the Senate?

Charles Johnson, an independent reporter, recently visited Newark
to find out if the mayor actually lives there. Booker lists two properties he owns as disclosure forms require that he list every property he has at least a $1,000 interest in. Johnson conducted interviews with people who live near both residences and recorded the conversations.

Booker is running for the US senate from New Jersey, to fill the seat left vacated with the death of Frank Lautenberg. The election is just days away on October 16th. But neighbors aren’t convinced that Booker lives at either address.

Johnson told the Blaze that Booker is registered to vote using 435 Hawthorne Avenue as his address, but residents who were taped claim that Booker is never there. Cassandra Dock, who was a census worker in 2010, said that she knows that Booker does not live on Hawthorne, because when she went there, it was a police station.

Mitt Romney’s new Utah home is an ultra-luxe log cabin

Mitt Romney’s new Utah home is an ultra-luxe log cabin

Romney already has his a beach house in La Jolla, California -- infamous site of the planned car elevator -- a family vacation home in New Hampshire (see video below), a modest townhouse in Massachusetts near one of his sons, and equestrian property purchased earlier this year in Utah. Now he's adding a Utah log cabin to the portfolio.
Don't be fooled, though: This is no rough-hewn Lincoln-style abode.
The 2012 GOP presidential nominee and his wife, Ann, just bought the "slopeside mansion" in the Park City area of Deer Valley, according to the local Park Record. They'd had a home in Park City from 1995 until 2009, and he led the 2002 Winter Olympics in Utah, but they apparently hadn't owned property in the state again until this year.
"As featured in Architectural Digest," the listing read, "this 'Utah Rustic' home gave renowned local architect Fred Babcock the opportunity to stretch beyond what one assumed could normally be achieved in log construction." It's made of "whole logs" and has a "massive stone fireplace" in the great room. "Six bedroom suites accommodate family and friends."

Chicago Marathon's heightened security, solidarity keep runners afoot

Chicago Marathon's heightened security, solidarity keep runners afoot

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon was run without incident Sunday as tighter but by no means suffocating security did little to scare off runners or subdue the raucous street party bubbling along the 26.2-mile racecourse.
Police and event organizers instituted new safety measures after the bombings that marred April's Boston Marathon, but the essential character of the race remained unchanged. Some runners and spectators said they were grateful for the heightened scrutiny, while others said they barely noticed it.
"It's good that you don't see the presence because that makes people uncomfortable," said Kelly Kane, who was cheering on runners in Old Town with few uniformed police officers in sight.

Some explanations as to why the roll out for the Affordable Care Act online had so many glitches.

9:42 PM By

Some explanations as to why the roll out for the Affordable Care Act online had so many glitches.
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

What do the Obamacare exchange websites do?

The exchanges are online marketplace where millions of Americans who don't receive health insurance from their employers will be able to purchase coverage. The system is designed to work like any other e-commerce site. Users can compare health insurance plans, choose the one that best meets their needs, and order it online.

How has it gone?

Not great. The system was overwhelmed with traffic on its first day. Since then, the site has become somewhat more responsive, but it is still plagued with problems.

Who is in charge of the system?

Responsibility for the system is shared between the federal government and some states. The Affordable Care Act gave states the option to run their own exchanges or to leave that job to the federal government. Only 14 states and the District of Columbia opted to operate their own exchange. The other 36 states opted to let the federal government do some or all of the work of setting up the exchange for their consumers. (In other words the Republican governors refused to cooperate so that all of the responsibility for the implementation of the ACA fell on the Federal government, and DHHS, which then allowed them to point out the problems during implementation and use that as an example of why the new law will not work. And don;t think for an instant they did not know this would be the outcome.)

That means the bulk of the Obamacare implementation has fallen to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, part of the Department of Health and Human Services. As its name suggests, this agency has traditionally administered key aspects of the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The Affordable Care Act gave it a new role administering the exchanges that form the heart of Obamacare.

Even in states that have opted to run their own exchanges, CMS has played an important role. CMS has supervised states' implementation of their exchanges and provided them with access to federal data needed to run the system.

Private companies sell things online all the time. Why is the government having such a hard time setting up an online health insurance marketplace?

If the exchanges were just insurance marketplaces, getting them to work might have been a lot easier. Much of the complexity comes from the fact that the exchanges are used to administer the complex system of subsidies the Affordable Care Act provides to low-income consumers. Figuring out whether a customer is eligible for a subsidy, and if so how much, requires data from a lot of federal and state agencies. Here's a chart from Xerox that illustrates the complexity of the system:

The amount of subsidy depends on a consumer's income. To ensure each consumer receives the correct subsidy, the exchanges must request income data from the Internal Revenue Service.

The exchanges are only open to American citizens and documented immigrants. To verify an applicant's citizenship and immigration status, an exchange must first verify a customer's identity with the Social Security Administration, and then check her immigration status with the Department of Homeland Security.

The exchanges must also check to make sure applicants are not already enrolled in another government health insurance program, which would make them ineligible for Obamacare. That means retrieving data from the Veterans Health Administration, the Department of Defense, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Peace Corps. It also means checking with a state's Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program agencies to see if an applicant is already enrolled in one of those programs.

Finally, once a customer purchases health insurance, the exchange must provide her information to the insurance company she has chosen. Insurance companies across the country have been scrambling to integrate their own computer systems with the exchanges.

I think that should be helpful in explaining exactly what went wrong, and why.

The article goes on to explain what is being done to solve these issues as well as predicting problems that the system may face in the future.

The thing is that ALL bureaucracies face difficulties, and clearly this one will be no different, what sets it apart is that EVERY hurdle, both big and small, is being mined for political points and will be used in attempts to undermine right up until it provides no more ammunition.

However in the meantime, health care becomes more and more affordable, and the people who listen to these assholes become fewer and fewer in number.

Anti-migrant riot erupts in Moscow after killing
Russian police scuffle with protesters in the Biryulyovo district of Moscow Sunday, Oct. 13.

Moscow police nabbed nearly 380 people after a peaceful protest over the killing of an ethnic Russian erupted into a riot of several thousand.
MOSCOW — Rioters smashed shop windows, stormed a warehouse and clashed with police in a Moscow neighborhood Sunday in the biggest outbreak of anti-migrant unrest in the Russian capital in three years.
Demonstrators, some chanting racist slogans, vandalized shops and other sites known for employing migrant workers in the southern Biryulyovo area after the killing of a young ethnic Russian widely blamed on a man from the Caucasus.
Several hundred residents had protested peacefully, demanding justice over the killing, until a group of young men began smashing windows in a shopping center and briefly set it on fire. A video posted on Youtube showed them chanting "White Power!" as they forced their way in.
When police in riot gear tried to make arrests, protesters threw glass bottles at them and the police fought back with batons. Video footage from the scene showed overturned cars and smashed fruit stalls.
Some in the crowd, which grew to number several thousand, set off from the shopping center and stormed into a vegetable warehouse employing migrants from the Caucasus and Central Asia.
Moscow police said several officers were wounded in the riots, around 380 people were detained and a criminal case was opened.

Fox News White House correspondent storms out because Jay Carney ignored him and hurt his widdle feelings. Update!

1:30 PM By

Courtesy of HuffPo:

Fox News correspondent Ed Henry walked out of a White House press briefing after being repeatedly ignored by spokesman Jay Carney on Friday. Henry attempted to ask Carney a question twice, but Carney called on other people instead.

After the first time, Henry could be seen shaking his head and muttering something to colleague Major Garrett. After the second time, Henry angrily got up and left the room. The briefing continued without him.

You can see the head shake at the 4 sec mark, the slow burn at the 2 minute mark, and the storm out at the 3:20 mark. Such a professional.

Personally I don't think that the President or his spokespeople should EVER call on any Fox News reporters. After all if you want to disseminate information it is best to do so by providing it to actual journalists, and NOT Republican propagandists.

Update: Oh this just keeps getting better:

The exchange, or lack of one, followed a contentious session on Wednesday in which Henry essentially accused the president of being indifferent to the families of servicemembers killed in action. The Wednesday exchange between Carney and Henry over the restoration of military death benefits centered on Henry repeatedly asking when Obama “learn[ed] specifically that the military death benefits would not be paid,” the tone becoming more confrontational with each back and forth between Henry and Carney.

Carney described Henry as a partisan opponent during that exchange. This wasn’t the first contentious exchange between the two. Henry badgered Carney last month about whether or not the White House staffer would sign up for Obamacare. Though Henry meant it as a gotcha-type accusation, Carney replied “If I did not have employer provided health insurance, like I’m sure you do, unless there’s something about Fox I don’t know, then I would absolutely enroll and it would be more affordable.”

At the impromptu Friday press conference, Carney called on no television reporters, and ignored Henry’s attempts to ask a question.

So NO television reporters were called on, but only ONE cable news idiot threw a tantrum because of it.

Sarah Palin joins Ted Cruz in an attempt to distract the American people from the fact that the government shutdown was the brainchild of THEIR financial backers. Update!

Sarah Palin joins Ted Cruz in an attempt to distract the American people from the fact that the government shutdown was the brainchild of THEIR financial backers. Update!
Granny Grifter, Sancho the sidekick, the ghost of Joe McCarthy, and Greta Van "Sucking the integrity out of journalism."
Courtesy of USA Today:

A crowd converged on the World War II Memorial on the National Mall, pushing through barriers Sunday morning to protest the memorial's closing under the government shutdown.

Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas were among those who gathered Sunday morning, along with former Alaska governor Sarah Palin, according to WTOP radio. Cruz said President Obama is using veterans as pawns in the shutdown.

"Tear down these walls," the crowd chanted. Protesters also sang God Bless America and other patriotic songs as they entered the memorial plaza.

The memorial has become a political symbol in the bitter fight between Democrats and Republicans over who is at fault since the shutdown began. Earlier rallies have focused on allowing access for World War II veterans visiting from across the country with the Honor Flight Network.

Sunday's rally was more political. A protest by truckers converged with a rally by a group called the Million Vet March at the World War II Memorial. Participants cut the links between metal barriers at the National Park Service site and pushed them aside.

I'm sorry the 30 truckers that were supposed to close down Washington merged with the handful of vet and Tea Party politicians who showed up for this, and it is news worthy?

Let me just remind everybody, though I am sure the majority of you know this, that this entire debacle is the result of year long work by organizations funded by the Koch brothers, and that it is only after seeing how poorly it was received by the public that they tried to call their dogs off.

However Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, Michele Bachmann and the rest of the Teabagger contingent, are rabid, poorly trained mongrels, who do not readily respond to a jerk on their chains once they think they smell blood in the air.

So they find these examples of the hardships caused by THEIR actions, and in a truly disgusting and vulgar manner use them in an attempt to turn the blame back onto the President. However the American people are simply not buying it and none of this grandstanding is going to convince them otherwise.

Here is their shameful attempt to deflect blame as it appeared on Fox News.

(Oh I think Cruz is going to regret allowing himself to be filmed standing next to the Wasilla Wendigo.)

And let's face it, once this whole thing blows over, and everybody starts going back to doing the jobs they were elected to do, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee will be severely marginalized. They will have lost any semblance of leadership and be forced to sit in the back while the grownups run the country.

(Hey isn't that Rick Perry's jacket? Why yes, yes I think it is.)

And as for Palin, well after this disintegrates into nothing, Steve Lonegan gets his ass handed to him, and Obamacare is accepted by all as the law of the land, she will have to go back to pretending that she lives in Alaska while hiding out in Arizona and waiting for the next minor political molehill to come along just begging to be made into a mountain of misrepresentations.

But don't worry as long as there are ignorant people in the world, there will always be a need for a Sarah Palin around to remind them that they are not alone in their ignorance.

(Photos courtesy of Twitchy.)

Update: Poor Todd:

On Sunday, Palin and her husband, Mark, appeared at the World War II and Lincoln memorials with Sen. Ted Cruz in Washington, D.C., where she continued her rant against the White House.

Damn how did I miss this one? Not only did she apparently divorce old two tone, but according to Yahoo News she has already married some guy named Mark.

Update 2: Uh oh, somebody's wig is slipping.

"Obamacare saved my family." A testimonial of how one family understands the purpose, and is grateful for the impact, of the Affordable Care Act.

"Obamacare saved my family." A testimonial of how one family understands the purpose, and is grateful for the impact, of the Affordable Care Act.
Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Mason, now 16, was probably born with his brain tumor. We discovered it six years ago. Biopsies showed a slow-growing mass, which was the good news. The bad news was that the tumor could not be removed because it had grown around essential structures in his brain. Under the care of some of the country’s finest specialists, Mason had frequent scans. There was little we could do between tests but hope for the best. Like other children his age, Mason played basketball, argued with his siblings and avoided cleaning his bedroom. He managed to undergo chemotherapy for eight months without getting too sick. He insisted on finding ways to laugh, saying things like: “I have brain cancer. What’s your problem?” It was an uneasy peace — until the tumor ruptured in December 2010, three years after his initial diagnosis, and Mason suffered a massive cerebral hemorrhage.

Mason spent most of eighth grade in the hospital. In the six months he was hospitalized, he spent 65 days in the pediatric intensive care unit. He underwent four brain surgeries. Halfway through his hospitalization, the Affordable Care Act was passed, alleviating lifetime limits on coverage and saving us from the financial abyss. Mason moved to a rehabilitation hospital where he was retaught the most basic skills — sitting up, eating and standing. We faithfully paid the premiums on the employer-sponsored plan through which our family is covered, along with the rest of our bills, thanking God and whoever else would listen for our good fortune to have coverage.

The biggest fear for families such as mine is that we will lose our health insurance and be rendered uninsurable because one of us has been sick. The Affordable Care Act does away with dreaded clauses barring preexisting conditions. It also enables us to keep Mason on our insurance until he is 26; then, he will be able to purchase his own coverage on an insurance exchange. At least, that was the plan until last Tuesday, when the government was shut down in protest of such excesses.

As far as the brain tumor goes, our family might have drawn the short straw. Maybe our story lacks a certain universal appeal. People might thinking to themselves, “I’m so sorry that happened to you, but odds are it won’t happen to me.” I hope it doesn’t, really.

But having lived in hospitals with Mason for months, I have seen that bad things — accidents, freak illnesses — happen to smart, cautious and otherwise undeserving people. It’s one thing we all have in common. We are fragile beings. So what is wrong with allowing us to purchase a financial safety net? What’s so un-American about that?

You know I have to believe that the MOST fervent defenders of Obamacare are those who had preexisting conditions or chronic health problems and had to deal with the health care system BEFORE the supplementation of Obamacare.

The fact is that this law by no means solves all of our health care problems, not by a long shot, but it IS an important step in the right direction, and hopefully we will only make further improvement from here.

For the people who want to repeal the law, or defund it, I always wonder what they would say to families like the one above, who would suddenly lose the coverage that the ACA provided? Would they say sorry? Would they say, we don't care about you because we are all about politics? Or would they simply look with a blank face as if this was something that had never occurred to them during their ideological rants on the House floor?

There are REAL people, with REAL problems, and Obamacare offers REAL solutions. That should be all that we need to understand.

And as for some insurance premiums going up, yes that is going to happen for some. But I think if those people pressure the Republican leaders in their states, into accepting and working with the programs offered by the ACA, they will see those costs come down. And eventually that will bring EVERYBODY'S costs down.

No wonder Steve Lonegan had Sarah Palin speak at his rally. He is as delusional as she is.

11:01 AM By

No wonder Steve Lonegan had Sarah Palin speak at his rally. He is as delusional as she is.
Here is a report on the rally from New Jersey.com:

"New Jersey, know that the eyes of America are on you now," Palin said. "You can turn things around. Something big is happening here," the former vice presidential candidate and Alaska governor told an enthusiastic crowd of about 4,000 people at the New Egypt Speedway. During the event, the Lonegan campaign said more than 2,000 people had attended, but released a revised count late Saturday night estimating more than 4,000 people had attended because 2,300 cars had been parked at the speedway.

Palin called the government shutdown an act of disrespect against military families whose paychecks and death benefits were delayed. U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg, whose death in June prompted this election, "was the last World War II veteran to serve in Congress. His memory is dishonored, along with all of our military veterans."

"Bottom line, guys: The politicians are using the military as pawns," she added.

Lonegan would fight to repeal the "train wreck" that is Obamacare, she continued, chastising those who said it was too late to stop it. "They used to say that about Prohibition, too, but today I believe you can get a beer with your famous New Jersey pizza. The law of the land is not settled until you say it is settled.

"Thank you for you being here. You who have the Jersey fight — you who are here for love of country," she said, to cheers and applause.

Lonegan said he was thrilled to have Palin by his side.

"Sarah Palin is a wonderful mother, she was a mayor of her town, a governor, a vice presidential candidate. She is an absolute wonderful model for women voters," Lonegan said in a brief press conference before Palin’s appearance. "She represents New Jersey."

"They are absolutely scared to death of Sarah Palin coming here because they know she is going to mobilize this base," he said.

I think Lonegan is getting "scared to death" confused with "laughing hysterically."

As for mobilizing a base I seriously doubt there is a base of people in New Jersey who are interested, or impressed, with anything that Sarah Palin has to say. I would bet big money that if the crowd had been interviewed right after the rally, that a large chunk of them would have been there because Palin was famous for saying stupid things, and because there was no circus in town competing for their attention.

And the fact that Palin believes that Lonegan could possibly have ANY impact on the implementation of Obamacare, after the entire Republican party just fell on their face trying to stop it, is only made less ridiculous when compared to Lonegan's statement that she is a "wonderful mother" and a "wonderful model for women voters."

Yeah, not so much.

Lonegan also has a rather inflated idea of the importance of his little Senate race, saying:

“A win in New Jersey on Wednesday, which we will have,” Lonegan said, “will be the shot heard ’round the world.”

Yeah NOTHING says arrogant prick quite like comparing the possibility to your election to the beginning of the Revolutionary War.

And nothing says "ignorant moron" like believing your struggling campaign can be rescued by an appearance from the most famous quitter in American politics.

Sarah Palin blames the looming debt default on the President, and then says if he does anything on his own to solve it he will be impeached, and if he does nothing, he will be impeached.

Sarah Palin blames the looming debt default on the President, and then says if he does anything on his own to solve it he will be impeached, and if he does nothing, he will be impeached.
Phony hair, phony patriotism, and phony Facebook posts. About sums her up.
Courtesy of the Painfully Puerile Political Pinhead's ghostwritten Facebook page:

Obama’s Debt Default is on His Shoulders While We Shoulder His Impeachable Offenses

Apparently the president thinks he can furlough reality when talking about the debt limit. To suggest that raising the debt limit doesn’t incur more debt is laughably absurd. ( It does NOT directly incur more debt. Only allows the debt already owed to be paid on time.) The very reason why you raise the debt limit is so that you can incur more debt. Otherwise what’s the point? (The point is to pay your bills on time and not default, which would send the message to the world that America is not trustworthy to do business with. Does she not remember what happened in 2011 when we DID eventually raise the debt ceiling but the argument leading up to it resulted in the lowering of our credit rating for the first time in the country's history?)

It’s also shameful to see him scaremongering the markets with his talk of default. There is no way we can default if we follow the Constitution. The Fourteenth Amendment, Section 4, requires that we service our debt first. We currently collect more than enough tax revenue to service our debt if we do that first. (No that is called "Prioritizing" and in this case it is essentially unworkable:"The U.S. government’s payment system is sprawling. It involves multiple agencies. It involves multiple interacting computer systems. And all of them are designed for only one thing: To pay all bills on time. The technological challenge of trying to adapt that to some other system would be very daunting, and I suspect that if we were forced into a mode like that the results would be riddled with all kinds of errors.") However, we don’t have enough money to continue to finance our ever-growing federal government (with our $17 trillion dollar national debt that has increased over 50% since Obama took office). That’s why President Obama wants to increase the debt limit. He doesn’t want to make the tough decisions to rein in government spending. So, he’s scaremongering the markets about default, just as he tries to scaremonger our senior citizens about their Social Security, which, by the way, is funded by the Social Security Trust Fund and is solvent through 2038. (Might be a good place to mention that Ronald Reagan raised the debt Ceiling 18 times, more than any other President. Was he also "scaremongering?")

It’s time for the president to be honest with the American people for a change. Defaulting on our national debt is an impeachable offense, and any attempt by President Obama to unilaterally raise the debt limit without Congress is also an impeachable offense. A default would also be a shameful lack of leadership, just as mindlessly increasing our debt without trying to rein in spending is a betrayal of our children and grandchildren who will be stuck with the bill.

- Sarah Palin

So to be clear, in Palin's stunted and ill informed point of view, the President is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't. Apparently Palin's only solution is for the President to surrender his presidency and hand it over to the Tea Party.

Go ahead bitch, hold your breath.

The possibility of this President being impeached for the political malpractice demonstrated by the Republican party is an outlandish fantasy dreamed up by a band of politic sore losers who simply cannot accept that they lost, and the President and the American people won.

Every day the Republicans lose ground in the polls, and every day the President looks more and more like the only adult in the room.

And don't forget, HE is not up for reelection ever again. The same cannot be said for those who are actively trying to destroy the full faith and credit of the United States of America.

With the debt ceiling fight looming this is how the argument over default is shaping up.

You know if the Republicans will not listen to the Democrats or White House concerning the importance of raising the debt limit, perhaps they will listen to one of their own:

This brinkmanship threatens the holders of government bonds and those who rely on Social Security and veterans benefits. Interest rates would skyrocket, instability would occur in financial markets, and the Federal deficit would soar. The United States has a special responsibility to itself and the world to meet its obligations. It means we have a well-earned reputation for reliability and credibility—two things that set us apart from much of the world.

Oh by the way that was some fellow named "Reagan." Ronald Reagan I believe.

More on yesterday's Tea Party grandstanding, political opportunism, and the anger the original organizers feel at having their rally hijacked.

More on yesterday's Tea Party grandstanding, political opportunism, and the anger the original organizers feel at having their rally hijacked.
So the above has become the iconic image that came out of yesterday's protests, which started with a more somber Million Vet March, and much like a high school party, when the parents are out of town, quickly devolved into just short of a riot at the White House gates.

It, of course, also attracted certain political rabble rousers and political has beens who did nothing calm the situation.

Courtesy of The New Civil Rights Movement:

Neither Sarah Palin nor Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Mike Lee ever served one day in our nation’s armed forces, yet they all decided to lead a group of “hundreds” of self-proclaimed veterans — mostly Tea Party members, military service not verified — in a “Million Vet March” today that was anything but a million. Armed by and motivated with the Confederate flag, Tea Partyiers vandalized our nation’s monuments and national landmarks, because they had been closed as a result of the federal government shutdown — an act which all three not only supported, but which the two Senators actually created.

Their hypocrisy is stunning.

A few protestors took the metal barricades — dubbed “barrycades,” because in their minds the President is responsible for the GOP-led shutdown and for personally closing the national monuments and parks — and piled them, in what could be called an act of vandalism, five feet high in front of the White House gates.

The crowd of Tea Party members was so raucous and potentially violent that the National Park’s SWAT and riot police had to be called in.

Announcing the “liberation” of the national parks — opening them up to further vandalism by removing the protective barricades — former Alaska governor Sarah Palin labeled it “a matter of shutdown priorities.”

“We are here to honor our vets,” Palin cried. “You look around though and you see these barricades and you have to ask yourself is this any way that a commander in chief would show his respect, his gratitude to our military?”

Of course, actually protecting the nation’s landmarks, parks, and monuments from vandalism is the job of the Park Police — who could not do their job, resulting in the closure of the parks due to the shutdown, forced upon the nation by Senators Cruz and Lee, and their Tea Party compatriots.

Here we see Palin, Lee, and Cruz soaking up the media attention after hijacking the protest.
There is more from WPTV:

High-profile speakers with close ties to the tea party appeared at the event, including former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.

The rally, billed as the "Million Vet March on the Memorials," drew far fewer than a million people and evolved into a protest that resembled familiar tea party events from 2009, with yellow "Don't Tread On Me" flags throughout the crowd and strong anti-Obama language from the podium and the audience.

One speaker went as far as saying the president was a Muslim and separately urged the crowd of hundreds to initiate a peaceful uprising.

"I call upon all of you to wage a second American nonviolent revolution, to use civil disobedience, and to demand that this president leave town, to get up, to put the Quran down, to get up off his knees, and to figuratively come out with his hands up," said Larry Klayman of Freedom Watch, a conservative political advocacy group.

Here Mediaite has video of the incredibly disrespectful manner in which the protesters interacted with the police who came to protect the White House:

As we reported earlier, a protest that started at the World War II Memorial ended up in front of the White House, where protesters piled up barricades that had been used to keep people out of the memorial during the government shutdown. Police, some in riot gear, were called in, and while news reports showed some of the confrontation, raw Youtube video of the protest reveals members of the crowd heckling the officers, calling them “brown shirts,” the “Gestapo,” the “Stasi,” and opining that the unit “looks like something out of Kenya.”

One of the things the Uniformed Secret Service and other DC law enforcement organizations do for Americans is protect the White House, which includes not letting people pile up a bunch of ladders in front of the White House fence. The north side of the White House is a frequent site for protests, and the Secret Service don’t usually engage them at all unless there is a threat to the perimeter, whereas even tourists who climb onto the base of the fence to get a better view are quickly dealt with. You can protest all you want, as far as the cops are concerned, just don’t mess with the fence.

This fiasco so embarrassed the original organizers that they issued this statement:

It is our official position that the purpose of this march and the accompanying rallies is focused on the re-opening of the Veterans memorials and keeping them open. While we understand that a Constitutional republic requires the equilibrium of checks and balances to maintain the democratic process, the memorials, monuments and parks built in honor of Veterans should NEVER be closed, blocked or restricted from use. We take the official position that no government office holder shall have ability to abridge the freedom of access to these hallowed grounds.

We have, as a group, been prevented from certain groups that have piggy-backed off our grassroots efforts, to effectively create a comprehensive media message campaign. We made the mistake of trying to partner with some Washington insiders that thwarted many of our genuine concerns for keeping this apolitical and grassroots. While we support many of those groups common causes for Veterans, we do not support the manner in which they go about it. We chose instead to not incite or create panic.

We chose to listen to all Americans and all Veterans that have asked us to keep going on despite the disingenuous politicians, political action committees, talking heads on the televisions and press reports attempting to hijack the message. This included many threats of personal and political attacks on our group’s character, businesses, colleagues and our true intentions. While our hearts were heavy by the disheartening acts of a few powerful Washington elite and political extremists jumping on the opportunity to make money, we decided to stay true to our message of a non-partisan effort to assist Veterans.

You know I actually think the Million Vet March was a poorly thought out idea, but at least they were sincere in their frustration. They did not deserve to have their event hijacked by Tea Party assholes and opportunistic politicians.

Of course NOBODY deserves to have themselves associated with Sarah Palin.

Except perhaps these two.

The one year anniversary of the Sandy hook school shootings is almost upon us so one 2nd Amendment group is planning a national event to celebrate gun rights.

A Seattle-area group is planning a national event to celebrate gun rights on Dec. 14th, the anniversary of the mass shooting at a Connecticut-area school.

"Guns Save Lives Day" will take place in all 50 states, said a representative for the Bellevue-based Second Amendment Foundation, although what the day entails is still to be determined.

Gun advocates are planning the event to coincide with the anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, which killed 26 people, mostly children.

"The gunman lived in my neighborhood. He lived 50 yards from my front door," said Po Murray, a Newtown mother with two kids who were once Sandy Hook students. "For them to use that day to promote their agenda, it's completely inappropriate in my opinion."

Event organizers say they fear gun control advocates will use the day to push their beliefs so they want to counter that; to "show America that there is a good side to guns."

"We are certainly aware that it's going to hit a raw nerve with a lot of people," said Dave Workman, with the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, a co-sponsor of the event. "I think that possibly is one of the reasons we chose the day -- to make sure that people understand that, while what happened last year was a horrible tragedy, there are many good things people do with firearms."

"My Facebook lit up on it. It's sadness, more than anything else," said Ralph Fascitelli with Washington Cease Fire, a gun control advocacy group. "Is there no line of common decency?"

No there isn't.

At least not for those who believe that the 2nd Amendment is the MOST important right given to us by the Constitution.

Insensitive pricks!
