CLASS: CDR Kerchner; It's all about allegiance -- sole allegiance to the USA at birth. The founders did not wish to allow anyone after the founding generation was gone (they had a grandfather clause in Article II for the original citizens) to service as President and Commander in Chief of our military who was born with foreign influence or allegiances by birth. A person born with dual-allegiance or tri-allegiance at birth is not constitutionally eligible to serve as Commander in Chief/President.
