Shooting broke out near the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, NY around 10:50 A.M. on Sept. 25. A gunman shot two mall employees, reportedly killing one. Area schools have been locked down to keep kids safe following the scary shooting.

Roosevelt Field Mall Shooting: Schools On Lockdown

There are several schools located in the Garden City area, including everything from elementary schools to colleges. For the safety of students “we are holding all the students in the buildings at this time,” Dr. Robert Feirsen, the superintendent of Garden City public schools said. “We are in lockout in all public schools in Garden City.”
“Garden City Schools were not allowing any unauthorized people inside the buildings as a precaution,” reports NBC.
Reports out of nearby Nassau Community College say that the campus is also on precautionary lockdown following the incident.
Several roads surrounding the mall have also been shut down to keep people away from the area as police hunts for the shooting suspect.

Roosevelt Field Mall On Lockdown Following Shooting

The Roosevelt Field Mall remains on lockdown following the shooting, as the shooter is still at large.
Police are looking for a their shooting suspect, who has been described as an Asian man in his 60s and “former disgruntled employee.” The suspect ”walked into an office building near a Long Island mall and shot two people, killing one, before fleeing” to the mall, authorities told NBC.
