Do you live in the most dangerous state in America?
While violent crime in America has been trending downward for the past 20 years, there are still pockets in our nation that can't seem to rehabilitate. And, due in part to the high rates of crime in Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee was named the most dangerous state in the union, followed by Nevada, Alaska and New Mexico. In terms of murders and robberies, Tennessee was ranked in the top 10 worst; however, the state was No. 1 for aggravated assaults, with a staggering 479.6 per 100,000 residents. Experts are still researching the reasons for the country's overall decline in crime, with some pointing to factors such as better policing, community outreach and a drop in crack cocaine use.
